Designing difficult training sessions with high failure rates is one of the best ways to close the gap between games and practices. Train realistically as much as possible, with as much failure as the athlete can emotionally tolerate.
My career as a DI catcher was derailed by the yips- it was devastating at the time, but effected my coaching career positively… Being able to help someone through performance anxiety is one of the most rewarding things I’ve ever done. @joshgessner - thx for sharing ✊🏼
Read this in 2010- When I first got in the game in 2012, one of the bosses was still preaching to me that you could tell if a guy would be a big leaguer by his face. Imagine… making big $ decisions using objective info 🤔 @SloanSportsConf thx 4 sharing https://t.co/groOylmk3P
‘If executives are too invested in everyone getting along, they create the kind of work environment where being "nice" is prioritized at the expense of critiquing and therefore improving actual performance.’ https://t.co/8cdggH3Na5
Sports teams are businesses, fans are the customers, customer service is everything. Pausing the game to allow customers to enjoy the game more is a good thing.
"I don't know a manager in the world who is fair."
Fair does not mean equal - what is fair is relative to the person. A lazy teammate does not get the same treatment as a workhorse - from anyone. Treating them the same creates a problem.
I believe this is one of the reasons why the @Arsenal players perform for Mikel Arteta. They know they are going to get the honest truth. Something I remember @Fizzer181 telling me about Sir Alex at MU. They respected him because of his brutal honesty.
@rebeccalopez32@AP Many Tarpons had success hitting which is why they moved to the next level… Google: Hudson Valley Renegades to follow their progress.
Deeper issue: S&C claiming to prevent injuries when many athletes are drinking, eating gummy worms for breakfast & gaming until 3am. S&C coaches should claim to get players stronger, faster & in better shape. Injuries are wildly complicated. Getting an 18yo stronger is not.
@sammy24257350@georgia_clark5 Encouraging people to view women and men the same. This is child's play compared to what happens on the field each and every day in baseball. Would never make Twitter news.
