The news of Dolly Parton’s passing is devastating. I had the extraordinary experience of working with her on The Orville, and it was a joy to discover that she really was exactly the person we all hoped she was. Her kindness, generosity, and authenticity were evident from moment one, and the benign yet assured command she maintained over her empire was obvious from the genuine love and trust you could see from everyone who worked for her. The world is a dimmer place today without her.

What really bothers me is anyone who watched this would see how ridiculous this framing is. Kimmel’s monologue was not only funny, but it featured a genuine and emotional outreach to people who have different views than him — and also contained a really lovely message about Erika Kirk. But NY Post and these right wing accounts don’t want people to hear his unifying message. That’s a threat to them. They are merchants of hate, doing everything they can to keep us divided.
