On Palestinian Prisoners Day, the Irish Republican Socialist Movement sends our solidarity to the thousands of Palestinian prisoners held in Israeli concentration camps, to their families, and to all those resisting occupation, dispossession and the genocidal US/Israeli war machine.
We know from our own history that the jail cell is not simply a place of confinement. It is used by occupying states to break resistance and to turn a national liberation struggle into a matter of โsecurityโ and โcrimeโ. That same logic has been used for generations against the Palestinian people. It was this same logic that led our comrades to take a stand in the H-Blocks of Long Kesh to defeat the British policy of criminalisation.
As Irish Republican Socialists, we recognise that solidarity needs to mean more than words, as we acknowledge that our struggles are connected by the same systems of imperialism and class oppression.
On this day, we call for justice for all Palestinian prisoners. We demand an end to arbitrary detention, to torture and abuse, to the detention of children, and to the wider system that uses imprisonment as a tool of political control. We reaffirm the right of the Palestinian people to resist occupation and to live free in their own land.
Palestinian Prisoners Day is a reminder that behind every prison wall there is a human being, a family, a community, and a cause that cannot be buried. Their courage must be met with international solidarity. Their continued imprisonment must be met with anger. Their cause must be met with action.
From Ireland to Palestine, the struggle continues.
From the H-Blocks to the prisons of ุงูุงุญุชูุงู, resistance lives.
Victory to the prisoners. Freedom for Palestine.
