Been dipping my toes in to Unity the past couple of weeks and here's my progress so far. It took ages to get working but I have a fully randomly generating map with changeable tiles😎
This is a very ordinary street of student houses in Cardiff.
Here is the story of how it became entangled in an international money-laundering network, a £50million fraud against the taxman, and a bomb plot against a group of lawyers 🧵
Here we have a grid of 2D 64 pixel tiles that automatically change their neighbours to create a smooth terrain.
The initial grid uses perlin noise to add land variation and the tile scripts then smooth this formation over.

Soooo guess who completely restarted this project for the 3rd time (technically 5th). That's right it was me!
I've gone back to the pixel art style but this time with an isometric view. I'm currently focussing on random land generation at the moment as seen here...
