Today, we acknowledge #DinahWashington, the self-proclaimed “Queen of the Blues”. Born in Tuscaloosa, Alabama, Ms. Washington was a pianist & vocalist, quoted as being "the most popular Black female recording artist of the '50s".
Ms. Washington not only sang Jazz, but Pop, Blues, and R&B were all her specialities. In 1986, Ms. Washington became an inductee of the Alabama Jazz Hall of Fame, and was also inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 1993.
