For over 65 years, the Indus Waters Treaty has been one of the world's most enduring transboundary water agreements, providing the certainty that enabled Pakistan to build the Indus Basin Irrigation System—the largest contiguous irrigation network in the world—supporting over 90% of the country's food production, hydropower generation, and millions of livelihoods.
The recent suspension of the treaty by India has raised serious concerns over treaty compliance, data sharing, and the future of regional water cooperation. For a lower riparian state, predictable river flows are not merely a technical issue—they are fundamental to water, food, energy, and economic security. In an era where the world is calling for greater cooperation under the "One Water, One Vision" principle, preserving rules-based management of shared rivers remains essential for regional peace and sustainable development.
A thoughtful and well-researched analysis by Muhammad Saeed. Lt Gen (R)
❗️The Indus Basin is Pakistan's lifeline. Any disruption to its natural flow is not just a water issue it's a national security concern that puts the future of millions at risk.

Loralai: Returning from a successful search operation in Azmari Shor, FC troops came under fire from terrorists hiding in the surrounding mountains. The troops responded with force, eliminating three terrorists, while one FC soldier embraced martyrdom.
❗️The enemy came with high hopes but retreated after paying a heavy price. If these terrorists believe our troops patrol these areas unprepared or will flee without a fight like they do, they have made a grave mistake.
