1. provide gear that actually meaningfully changes the gameplay style
2. make the maps more explorable and not linear
3. provide multiplayer options
4. have the Roaring Storm surround the map and shrink to eventually trap the player in a battle roya

I dislike Scarlet and Violet's graphical and technical issues, along with aspects of its gameplay and mechanics. But something it did so well was the story, the idea of the Professor being dead for the entirety of the game leading us to fighting an AI replica was so cool.
