@kathpreolinae @lydheks There’s definitely more exercises that can help but lip trill scales and monitoring your posture and relaxing are a great starting point. Side note when I was typing that all out I was doing it unconsciously myself and my finance heard me and now he’s been doing them too 😂

@kathpreolinae @lydheks While you do this try to keep your body relaxed. A lot of us will do things like point our chins up and out when we try to go high but that is bad and puts strain on our throats. You want a supported core and relaxed neck

@kathpreolinae @lydheks You sound go progressively higher with each scale until you can’t go any higher. Vocal cords are a muscle so you won’t see results right away but if you are consistent you will hopefully be noticing that some of the higher notes become progressively easier as the weeks go on

@kathpreolinae @lydheks To train your voice to go just a little higher. Vocal range can be improved with regular practice and correct technique! I can’t help much but I can recommend a few exercises that can help improve your head voice (which is what you want for higher notes)

I did about 2.5 years of vocal training in college but I am by no means a professional and I have zero qualifications when it comes to trans vocal therapy but if you can hit most of her notes I don’t think that it’s impossible >

@kathpreolinae @lydheks Fair enough. Are the songs hard because you can’t hit the notes or because you’re not in love with the sound itself? Ignore me if I’m getting annoying lol I just really love singing and love it when other people get to love it too.

@kathpreolinae @lydheks Not trying to diminish any real trauma about this you might have to be clear, I just wanted to make sure you to know it’s not hopeless. There are also trans women with beautiful femme singing voices! Ethel Cain is a great example

@kathpreolinae @lydheks While certainly rarer than the combined number of cis women who are sopranos and mezzo sopranos, contraltos aren’t rare and they have beautiful voices! There’s no shame in sounding like an Annie Lennox or a Nina Simone or a Gladys Knight or a Fiona Apple ❤️

@TheWapplehouse My first apartment in the early 2010s was 4 beds, 2 baths $1000 a month in Providence RI. I had 3 roommates so it was $250 a person. I was only working part time at a grocery store. Absolutely impossible to find something like that now. No idea how students manage these days

Meeting someone’s emotional needs is far more important. I have many people in my life with strong relationships and none of them are based on anything so shallow.
