24% young farmers by 2040. Europe has set the objective. Now it must provide the means to achieve it.
Today, we launch #24for2040, a campaign reminding co-legislators that generational renewal cannot happen without dedicated support for young farmers.
Our ambition. Your legacy.
๐ช๐บ Europe spoke about its future. We listened and decided to answer.
โWe are choosing farming, we are choosing Europe. Now, Europe, it is your turn to choose us.โ

Thank you, Commissioner @CHansenEU, for a timely discussion.
As Europe takes stock of the consequences of a brutal summer, young farmers remain committed to finding solutions for affected farmers and rural communities and to building more viable and resilient futures.
Today I met farmers & sector representatives to hear how severe heat and drought are affecting their farms and crops.
They know they're not alone: we discussed what can be done using every available #CAP tool, working with Member States & building resilience into the next CAP
EU institutions are back to school.
Three questions for the season:
๐ฑ Who will be farming in 2050?
๐ถ Can young farmers afford the future?
๐ค Who gets to shape Europeโs agricultural future?
For CEJA, these are tests of political ambition. Weโre ready to put Europe to the test.
Standing together. โค๏ธโ๐ฉน
Our thoughts are with everyone affected by the devastating wildfires across Europe.
Thank you to the firefighters, emergency responders, farmers, civil protection teams and volunteers protecting lives and rural communities.
Stay safe.
๐ก๏ธ CHALLENGE 2/4 | Social protection must follow farmers for life.
Farming careers often combine self-employment, family work, seasonal contracts and off-farm jobs.
Systems designed for standard salaried work can leave farmers with serious gaps in coverage. ๐งต๐
Social protection must also reflect seasonal incomes, volatility and multi-activity.
Austriaโs SVS shows how health, pensions, accident insurance and family benefits can be integrated while recognising farm and off-farm work.
๐ฑ CHALLENGE 1/4 | Can farmers take time away without putting their farm at risk?
Long seasons, livestock responsibilities and narrow weather windows leave little space for rest, care or family life.
Real generational renewal requires a real workโlife balance ๐งต๐
Workโlife balance also depends on nearby healthcare, affordable childcare, transport and reliable connectivity.
Young farmers should not have to choose between staying in their rural community and building a fulfilling life.
The paper doesn't seek to harmonise national social systems.
Instead, it aims to contribute to a broader European discussion on how agricultural, rural and social policies can work together to strengthen generational renewal.
