The more we go down this road, the more I wish we kept the BCS.

[Ross Dellenger @RossDellenger]

CFP leaders are closer than ever to expanding to a 24-team playoff. They are talking buyouts of conference title games and scheduling logistics of doubling the field.

Foregone conclusion?

“If we can get a decent (TV) deal, we are definitely going to 24.”

Matt Campbell said that Daryus Dixson got "dinged up" towards the end of the first half on Saturday. Questionable for Friday night.

[Chase Fisher @_ChaseFisher_]

Keanu Williams on the players meeting:

"We really just needed to talk about our standard and where we're at and what we need to do moving forward."

[Chase Fisher @_ChaseFisher_]

Buhr on Malachi Goodman:

"I'm really excited for him to see how he continues to grow, and I think he's going to be a great player. So, I love playing next to him. He's a freaking road grader."

[Chase Fisher @_ChaseFisher_]

Trevor Buhr on the players meeting:

"Really just making sure everyone's on the same page. I'd say that was the purpose of the meeting, and just kind of getting everyone together, just being able to move forward."

[Chase Fisher @_ChaseFisher_]

Becht on playing at New Ryan Field:

"It's going to be sick playing in a brand new stadium. It's going to be hopefully a good environment for them, and I'm excited to go in there. I feel like I play a lot better. Just out on away games."

[Chase Fisher @_ChaseFisher_]

Rocco Becht:

"We had a big players meeting yesterday, and we all looked at each other and said, we still have everything in front of us. We're going to continue to go out there and grind"

[Michael Siroty @mSiroty]

A sellout crowd at what looks to be an otherworldly stadium 👀

I’ll be on the @PSUCommRadio call in Evanston with @_ChaseFisher_.

Friday. 8 PM. Northwestern vs. Penn State at New Ryan Field. Can’t wait 🗓️

Campbell's message to the team going forward:

"It's not always about the result. It's about who we are becoming for this journey, so we can learn from our mistakes and not make the same mistakes twice. And that's really my belief system in it, and really kind of been our messaging in our in our locker room."

[Chase Fisher @_ChaseFisher_]

Campbell reflecting on Saturday's performance:

"The positive I take is this was not an attitude and effort issue."

[Chase Fisher @_ChaseFisher_]

Campbell on the Jacob Harris touchdown late in the game with potential offensive pass interference that was not called:

"We put ourselves in a situation where we left it the chance instead of taking care of the situations that we had the ability to take care of and executing what we need to execute."

[Chase Fisher @_ChaseFisher_]

Campbell:

"I don't know if I did a good enough job as the head football coach conducting the flow of the game at times"

[Chase Fisher @_ChaseFisher_]

Campbell on the offense:

"We just couldn't find the flow in the game and I think part of that was how can we distribute the football better? How can we create more space? I think all those things are real conversations that we continue to have."

[Chase Fisher @_ChaseFisher_]

"Situationally I didn't feel like it was the right time and the right place to maybe panic and give them a short field and feel like they could have more time to get themselves back into the football game."

[Chase Fisher @_ChaseFisher_]

Matt Campbell on the 4th and 1 in the 4th quarter:

"My biggest thing that kept replaying in my mind was we were playing such good defense and the reality of did we want to screw around here?"

[Chase Fisher @_ChaseFisher_]

Mouser on the run game:

"Now we're not seeing explosive plays in the run game like I would like us to."

[Chase Fisher @_ChaseFisher_]

Mouser looking ahead:

"we just don't have the time to be able to dwell on it and feel sorry for yourself because no one else does. This Northwestern team is going to try and murder us, and anybody that shows up to practice today and feels sorry for yourself is going to get left behind."

[Chase Fisher @_ChaseFisher_]

Mouser on the run calls on third and longs:

"(We) didn't feel like we created a great rhythm in the pass game to be able to go and execute a concept that was third and 12 plus"

[Chase Fisher @_ChaseFisher_]

Mouser said there was a lot of dialogue on the 4th and 1 call in the 4th quarter Saturday. Penn State ended up punting.

[Chase Fisher @_ChaseFisher_]

Taylor Mouser on the tight ends:

"Especially with Kobe out, those three are some of our best pass catchers, and we're going to have to find ways to get in the ball in easier ways"
