In case you haven't seen, as is tradition, S;G RE:BOOT is lacking in a few areas—untranslated images, technical flaws, and a few text errors. A patch is coming.

Hopefully it shouldn't take long, but LCCs remain our current priority (and are nearing completion)!

Imai Asami discussed her experiences rerecording for STEINS;GATE RE:BOOT as Makise Kurisu.

Instead of just recreating her original performance, she voiced Kurisu based on her deepened understanding of the character that she voiced for 17 years.

When Imai originally voiced her, she didn't fully grasp the overall storyline of STEINS;GATE and admitted the script was difficult especially since she was given only scenes where Kurisu appears. She felt a lot of pressure having to portray Kurisu, who was a genius that understood various theories and used a lot of technical terms.

She specifically recalled the lecture scene at the beginning of the game. At that time, Imai looked up the meanings of various terms in a desperate attempt to act as if she knew everything. She also wanted to make sure it was a scene that players don't skip over because her portrayal was too boring.

Now with RE:BOOT, Imai felt more confident portraying the genius side of Kurisu. Instead of simply explaining complex stuff, she can now properly convey the feelings of a genius scientist based on her own understandings.

When rerecording, Imai struggled on whether to portray the original Kurisu, or a Kurisu culminated from 17 years of experience. Ultimately, she chose the latter.

She also discussed how in the original STEINS;GATE, the cast members recorded their lines individually without knowing each other's performances. This time, because they worked on this series together for so many years, Imai can record these lines while perfectly imagining the voices of the other cast. Because of that, Kurisu's exchanges with Okabe Rintarou have now synced to an entirely new level.

For Imai, RE:BOOT is not just a rerecording of the same story, but a work that reflects the deep understanding the cast has cultivated over the past 17 years.
