🚨EXCL: Burnley set to receive 3 points after recording what is understood to be a “league win.” First instance in over eight months; Clarets fans believed to be unfamiliar with the concept. More to follow as we learn what a league win actually is. @David_Ornstein#twitterclarets
Fabio Celestini has travelled to England with his staff.
Does that mean Alan Pace will finally give a manager his own backroom staff?
Thoughts, #twitterclarets?
Do I think he’s the answer to our problems at this current moment?
That remains to be seen. But, we don’t exactly have a huge selection of managers to pick from.

I’ve also had a look into Fabio.
His turnaround from survival to a league and cup double at Basel is a good achievement, but we mustn’t forget they are one of the biggest clubs in Switzerland, meaning they do have greater resources and history of finishing high.

Just had a bit of a look into Fabio Celestini, who’s emerging as a strong contender for the Burnley job as per @adjones_journo. His managerial career is interesting.
The standout is his time at Basel. He took over in October 2023 with the club bottom of the Swiss league, guided them to safety and an 8th-place finish, then won the league and cup double the following season. Their first league title in eight years.
Elsewhere, he won promotion with Lausanne, qualified for Europe with Lugano, won the Swiss Cup with Luzern and the Russian Super Cup with CSKA Moscow. He’s also had less successful spells, particularly at Sion.
Tactically, it looks like he’s an attack-minded manager who favours quick, forward-thinking football rather than slow, possession-heavy build-up. His preferred 4-2-3-1 isn’t rigid either; at Basel he switched between a back three and four depending on results and personnel.
Obviously, the Championship is a different challenge, but there’s a decent record of rebuilding struggling sides and adapting when things aren’t working. Makes me wonder if we’ll go back to club manager rather than head coach.
You’d also assume there’s a connection somewhere between Lopez and Cellestini.
Thoughts on Cellestini, if that’s the route we go?

In 2021, he was dismissed by Luzern after a poor start to the season, with the club near the bottom of the league.
My verdict?
He has history of taking over struggling sides and succeeding, but there are many cases where things haven’t gone so well.

But none of this could’ve been said in yesterday’s utterly classless statement?
The difference in tone is staggering. Why couldn’t he have been shown this respect initially? And why couldn’t he have been properly backed by you whilst he was here?

I would like to personally thank Nicky for his hard work and commitment during his time at Burnley Football Club.
Nicky has given his all to the role, and I know how much time and effort he has put into his work with the players and staff.
These decisions are never easy, but I want to express my sincere appreciation for the professionalism and dedication he has shown throughout his time with us.
I wish Nicky and his family all the very best for the future.

The Board has taken the decision following a disappointing start to the Championship season.
@oldtimerclaret@1882RC@stevejblackburn One thing I’ve noticed about you, Bobby, is that when someone makes a valid point against ALK, you tend to ignore it (3, maybe 4, relegations). I genuinely struggle to understand how you can find anything to justify them still being here. Are you honestly okay with them here?
i know it’s already been said but that’s such a poor statement.
harsh, impersonal and they try to play the hero card. just shows a serious lack of awareness or respect.
