“Find the community and surround yourself with people who have either been there before or tap into the knowledge base on offer in the network. ” @JannahDryden https://t.co/YAaR3rnmBT
Nothing fires me up more than meeting emerging managers. Blood, sweat and tears raising funds 1-3 building epic portfolios from rock bottom. We are the future.
@saz33m @NWischoff I see this mostly with 35-50yr old founders. Stepping out of corporate career, or transitioning from home duties into founder territory. Younger age groups 20+ often have more convictions/confidence.
@NWischoff As mentors, we need to remind them that it is perfectly fine to exude confidence, and in fact, it is absolutely necessary, if working/living in the US.
Something I observe when female founders pitch me is what comes off as a lack of conviction in the idea which is really the fear of sounding arrogant. Please sound arrogant. Be unrelenting.
COURAGE to leave your corporate career to solve this problem & get the support around me.
Saying..
I can see potential
I can solve this
I can, I can, I can
Surround yourself with people that stand tall when you're standing up.
The best part of my day so far: sharing local (AU) company success stories with room full of 15 year olds. 10 years ago, most case studies were international startups. Today, I fill multiple slide screens with homegrown stories. Our kids need this. @ellispeta
This year to date I have run programs and events for over 1000 individuals teaching a combination of innovation, business, entrepreneurship, and public speaking for ppl aged 10 - 68.
Common takeaways:
1) You are never too young or too old to start something

In 2021 the media stories for startups were gushing & in 2022 it’s doom & gloom. It wasn’t that good last year & it’s definitely not that bad this year.
There has never been a better time to build a startup. Just be laser focused on the problem you are solving & ignore the noise
Brisbane #InnovationinEducation Festival starts today. Excited to be a panellist and to network with fellow innovators, and for Scott Millar and his BOP team for bringing together #educators, #entrepreneurs and #industry to explore the future of education. https://t.co/j057c4FrL1

The biggest challenge as a founder is FOCUS. 🔎
You will have a million demands on your time. A million legitimate things to do. A million fires that need to be put out. 😰
YOU CAN'T DO IT ALL. 🙅♂️
Get comfortable letting fires burn. 🔥
Focus on what moves the needle. 🪡
#juststart We agree 100% that you will learn more ( mostly about yourself) in a #sidehustle than anywhere else. Nothing more scary/empowering/grounding than putting your ass on the line and backing yourself.
I've worked in executive leadership roles in startups that have raised $300M+ and generated $400M+ in revenue.
But I've never learned more than I'm learning now just screwing around trying to build my own thing on the internet.
Start a side project online.
You won't be sorry.
I have the best job! Can't wait to release these colourful #EverydayEntrepreneur recorded discussions with epic humans. Thanks for your time @catmatson From career pivots to new ventures, government jobs to teenagers' rooms, we covered it all :) What a laugh! @_EE365
I'm all set up ready to record and interview and my interviewee cancelled ....! Does anyone feel like jumping on zoom to talk to me about their founder journey? I'm in the mood to record :) no prep is required!
