Today I am honored to introduce to you the MIDORI mousepad – The Return Glass Edition!
The Return has a very unique artistic design style in today's market. Rather than being a mousepad, it's more like a desktop artwork. When I take it out to take some beautiful photos, strangers who don't know much about peripherals often ask me what kind of painting it is.

I must also say that The Return's packaging box is huge and sturdy, and the design is equally exquisite, which makes the unboxing very ceremonial. It can serve as a pretty good decoration no matter where you place it.

MIDORI's purchase page advises users to wash the pad surface with warm water and soap after unpacking for optimal performance. This is indeed true; new pads often have a lot of sticky dust that cannot be completely removed by wiping or simple washing. After washing, The Return becomes smooth, significantly improving the user experience.

The Return is well-made; although it is large, it feels very light and thin when you hold it in your hand. The artist's signature is in the lower left corner, while the unique limited-edition serial number is in the lower right corner.
Let's take a look at its surface.

The Return is classified as a speed pad, with a surface that is only micro-etched and has no additional coating.

Perhaps because I used too many coated pads, I didn't find The Return to be as fast as I expected, but the overall speed was still very good. Furthermore, The Return's textured surface is primarily subtle, and combined with meticulous polishing, it offers a smooth touch. Unlike the softness of coated glass pads, its surface feels drier.

It performs well in terms of acceleration and startup, but when I slide the mouse on the pad, I can still feel some subtle, damping-like friction. Let me explain: the lighter you grip the mouse, the worse the braking performance of the textured surface. Due to the slight weakness of the texture, the braking effect under pressure is also relatively worse compared to other pads. You need to apply more force to achieve relatively good braking.

Everyone's hand strength control is not perfectly uniform, so when making frequent small adjustments, you might feel a slight resistance in The Return. It's as if The Return is like a heavily armored knight who, when trying to frequently adjust his mount to face the enemy, keeps bumping into his armor, lacking fluidity.

However, this is not always the case. Although the UNWS Silver Fox Dot skates that come with The Return are of very high quality, and their interaction can give you good speed, the paragraph feel of the Silver Fox Dot skates themselves are more noticeable on uncoated glass pads. Therefore, I prefer to use UNWS Pink Fox Dot skates or DYSphoria Aureluna Dot skates, which are also relatively soft but do not have tactile characteristics. This allows for smoother control in scenarios where frequent fine-tuning is required, without losing too much speed.

These are my general thoughts on The Return; this is my first attempt to make the commentary more concise and precise.

Thank you so much MIDORI for such a wonderful gift! I absolutely love this amazing medieval painting design. In my opinion, The Return is a very valuable collectible.
