📍 The countdown is on!
EUsalt is inviting you to its upcoming Annual Conference and events, taking place on 8-11 June 2026 in the iconic city of Venice and its elegant island of the Lido.
Venice and salt share a particularly meaningful connection. For centuries, salt trade contributed to the city’s prosperity and strategic importance. Even more remarkably, the very foundations of Venice are sustained by thousands of wooden pillars driven deep into the lagoon’s ground — preserved for centuries thanks to their constant immersion in salt water, which protects the wood from decay. In this way, salt quite literally helped support the city that we will gather in.

💧 Water and salt are clearly interconnected.
On World Water Day, it is worth recognising the circular relationship between salt and water and the importance of responsible resource management. Sustainable salt production depends on careful handling of water resources, protection of surrounding ecosystems, and continuous innovation to reduce environmental impact.

🤝 FoodDrinkEurope Partnership Days
This week in Brussels, EUsalt is participating in the @FoodDrinkEU Partnership Days
Salt is a fundamental ingredient that supports food preservation, safety, and nutrition (through iodisation), as well as numerous industrial and environmental applications.
🧂 To highlight the sector’s commitment to public health, several saltshakers with iodised salt were displayed during the event - a small but symbolic reminder that iodine fortification remains one of the most cost-effective public health interventions.
EUsalt is pleased to contribute to these discussions, representing a responsible and united European salt industry committed to competitiveness, sustainability and public health.
🧂 Partner with the European Salt Sector in 2026
The EUsalt Annual Events 2026 in Venice Lido will bring together industry leaders, policymakers, experts and partners for high-level discussions, networking and celebration of the salt sector.
Sponsorship opportunities are now open. Several valued partners have already confirmed their support, and additional opportunities remain available.

❄️ Did you know? ️
De-icing salt is a critical tool for winter road safety, helping prevent accidents, reduce traffic disruption and keep essential services moving during icy conditions.
By lowering the freezing point of water, salt allows ice to melt faster and prevents refreezing making roads, bridges and pavements safer for everyone. In winter maintenance, timing and correct application matter as much as the material itself.
Reliable winter service is not a luxury — it’s a public safety necessity.

🇮🇳 Last week, EUsalt’s Managing Director Adriana Nosewicz shared valuable insights on how industry cooperation can drive progress and innovation across the salt sector at #SaltIndiaExpo2026 & SMARTECHBIZ 2026.
🌐International collaboration like this is more than networking: it builds mutual understanding, aligns on shared priorities and amplifies the sector’s voice in global discussions - especially as we prepare for the World Salt Symposium 2027, where creating global partnerships will be central to our collective agenda.
❄️📈 Did you know that using salt as a de-icer is crucial for the success of any country and economy affected by snow and ice?
De-icing salt plays a vital role in ensuring smooth transportation, reducing accidents, and keeping cities connected, even in the harshest weather.
🔸 Roads: De-icing salt ensures road networks remain operational, preventing accidents and ensuring the smooth flow of traffic.
🔸 Cycle Tracks: Salt makes cycling a viable and safer option during winter, allowing people to keep moving even in icy conditions.
🔸 Footpaths: Pavements and walkways stay safe for pedestrians, ensuring travel on foot remains possible and secure.

🦋 Thyroid Awareness Month is a reminder of how small nutrients can have a big impact on health.
Iodine is essential for the thyroid gland to produce hormones (T3 and T4) that regulate metabolism, growth, and cognitive function. When iodine intake is insufficient, the risk of thyroid disorders such as goitre and hypothyroidism increases.
Iodised salt remains a simple, safe and cost-effective way to help prevent iodine deficiency at population level.

#ThyroidAwarenessMonth #NeverLoseYourI
In this festive season, a pinch of iodised salt adds a touch of well-being to our holiday joy. As we enjoy shared meals, this vital ingredient supports healthier days ahead. EUsalt wishes you a happy holiday and a bright year to come.
Take care, stay well, and never lose your I.
Iodine plays a quiet but essential role in our health, and getting enough shouldn’t be complicated.
But across Europe, inconsistent rules make iodised salt harder to use than it should be.
As diets shift, millions are missing out. Smarter regulation can fix that.
