Launched the second tranche of the 2025/26 Financial Year Nakuru County Bursary, amounting to Sh162,933,052, at Githoko-ini Grounds in Mau Narok, reaffirming my commitment to ensuring that no child is left behind in education.
A total of 28,678 students from universities, colleges, secondary schools, vocational training centres and special schools across all sub-counties will benefit. Earlier this year, we distributed Sh284,480,397 in bursaries to 57,231 students, bringing the total county bursary allocation to Sh446 million.

I encouraged 15 groups that received 100 seater tents and two groups that received seats to utilise the equipment effectively and manage their business ventures prudently. I was impressed by the beneficiaries' plans and reaffirmed our commitment to supporting their business growth. This informed the establishment of the Sh100 million low-interest Wezesha Fund to facilitate access to affordable credit.

First Gentleman Sam Mburu and I led MPs today in an empowerment fundraiser for youth and women from Nakuru Town East and Nakuru Town West, with Mining, Blue Economy and Maritime Affairs CS Hon. Ali Hassan Joho as Chief Guest at the ASK Showgrounds in Nakuru City.
I applaud the contributions of MPs David Gikaria, Samuel Arama, Irene Njoki, Phelix Odiwuor Jalango, Zaheer Jhanda, Japheth Nyakundi, John KJ Kiarie, Dagoretti South Constituency, Senator Vincent Chemitei, businessman Abu Joho, and Nakuru Town East parliamentary aspirant Geoffrey Kamau towards our mission to empower youth and women to grow their businesses.

We will issue the second tranche of bursaries beginning next week, while ECDE learners will receive free uniforms from January next year.
I welcomed CS Joho’s call for police officers in Nakuru to stop arresting youths who earn a living by fishing in Lake Nakuru. Hon Joho pledged to support and supply fingerlings to promote fishing.
I called for unity in Nakuru, a highly cosmopolitan county, as I joined fellow leaders in urging residents to support H E President William Ruto. I remain committed to Nakuru’s socio-economic transformation.
Those present included CECs Stephen Kuria, Leonard Bor and Elga Riaga, chief officers, and MCAs led by area representative Bernard Gatuso.
Alongside National Assembly Majority Leader Hon. Kimani Ichung’wah, we met a section of residents from Bahati and Subukia Sub-Counties to discuss local needs, ongoing projects and opportunities to improve livelihoods across the two sub-counties.
We are expanding ECDE infrastructure and vocational training, supporting learners through bursaries and scholarships, and extending the Lishe na Mama Uji programme to more than 9,000 beneficiaries across the two sub-counties.
In healthcare, we are upgrading facilities, expanding maternal services and preparing Subukia Level 4 Hospital for full operationalisation. We are also improving access to clean water through boreholes, solar-powered projects and pipeline extensions.
Our agricultural interventions include subsidised artificial insemination, animal vaccination, distribution of high-value crop seedlings and support for poultry and dairy farming. The cost of fertiliser has also reduced from KSh 7,500 to KSh 2,500 under the subsidy programme.
We continue to improve rural roads, markets and business opportunities through cooperative financing, the Wezesha Fund and affordable boda boda financing.
In partnership with the National Government, we are advancing ESP markets, affordable housing in Bahati, technical college hostels, the upgrading of Afraha Stadium and the dualling of the Rironi–Mau Summit Road.
A very happy Mashujaa Day to all Kenyans as we honour our heroes and celebrate every citizen whose dedication and service continues to build a stronger Nakuru and a greater Kenya.

As Chairperson of the CoG Committee on Lands, Housing and Urban Development, I officially opened an intergovernmental conference on affordable housing at Sawela Lodges in Naivasha, Nakuru County.
Bringing together County Governments, the National Government, the Affordable Housing Board and the National Land Commission, the meeting is exploring ways to address challenges hindering the titling process for buyers of houses under the Affordable Housing Programme.
With the National and County Governments playing complementary roles, I challenged the conference to find solutions to challenges involving statutory consents, requisite approvals, land registration and surveys to facilitate seamless acquisition of title deeds by buyers. I urged delegates to develop hiconcrete, measurable and time-bound resolutions on the titling process.
Present were CoG CEO Mary Mwiti, Affordable Housing Board Chairman Jeremiah Simu, CEO Joe Mutugu, former CS Moses Kuria, Lands CEC John Kihagi, CECMs, COs and directors of physical planning.
Together with National Assembly Majority Leader Hon. Kimani Ichung’wah, we met a section of residents from Nakuru Town East and Nakuru Town West to discuss development priorities and progress in healthcare, education, infrastructure, trade and housing.
We are expanding access to quality healthcare through upgraded facilities, including the operationalisation of Bondeni Sub-County Hospital’s theatre, which has recorded 1,592 normal deliveries and 415 Caesarean sections since September 2025. We are also investing in VTCs, ECDE classrooms and sanitation facilities to strengthen education and skills development.
Across the two sub-counties, we continue to improve roads, drainage, water and sewer systems, streetlighting, markets and digital services, while upgrading county estates and settlement infrastructure.
In partnership with the National Government, we are advancing major road projects, including the dualling of Oginga Odinga Road from Nyahururu Interchange to West Road, rehabilitation of connecting roads and the Rironi-Mau Summit Road project. We are also pursuing ESP markets and affordable housing initiatives, including projects at Soilo and KAA Lanet.
Officially commissioned the Kahuruko Water Project in Kahuruko area, Biashara Ward, Naivasha, as part of my ongoing efforts to expand access to clean and safe drinking water for more households across Nakuru County.
The first water project in the area, Kahuruko Water Project is a Sh2.3 million initiative set to benefit over 500 households. The project entailed drilling a borehole, installing water tanks, solarization and laying 9.8 km of pipelines to deliver water directly to households. I reaffirmed my commitment to connecting more families to clean water and urged Naivawasco to manage the project responsibly.

We intend to expand the range of courses offered at the institution.
In addition to providing fortified uji in all public ECDE centres and employing more teachers, from January, we will begin providing free uniforms to all learners in public ECDE centres. I also inspected water, road, agriculture and trade projects in Biashara Ward. I urged residents to take advantage of low-interest loans available through our Sh100 million Wezesha Fund.

I used the session at Langa Langa Market to highlight development projects in the area across the sectors of water, trade, education, and health. Key among the projects are the gravelling and grading of Gitare-Nuiswet, Kihanya-Jeremiah and Mbegi-Akorino Roads; drilling and equipping of Cura and Mwitumberia Water Projects; construction of sheds at Langa Langa Market; issuance of more than Sh2.4 million in low-interest loans to Manma Milele and Tumaini Sacco, among others; ongoing construction of a Newborn Unit and supply of maternity beds at Gilgil Hospital; and upgrades at dispensaries such as Nuthu and Gitare. 🚨 Trump Eyes FIFA Chief for UN Top Job
President Trump is set to nominate FIFA President Gianni Infantino as the next UN Secretary-General, sources tell NY Post. Praising him as “respected by everyone” with a “special ability to bring people together,” the move follows Infantino awarding Trump the first FIFA Peace Prize after the 2026 World Cup.
As Guterres’ term ends, this bold pick could reshape global diplomacy with football’s ultimate dealmaker.
Held a consultative meeting with leaders of Boda Boda operators to deliberate on the Governor’s Affordable Boda Boda Programme, which we are set to launch in September.
Supported by a Sh60 million Boda Boda Fund, the initiative seeks to empower operators by easing the cost of acquiring motorcycles through affordable deposits and lower daily repayment rates. Under the programme, riders will acquire electric motorcycles with a deposit of Sh10,000 and a daily repayment of Sh189. For fuel-powered motorcycles, operators will pay a deposit of Sh12,000 and a daily repayment of Sh242. This marks a significant reduction from the high deposits and repayment rates that have long placed a heavy financial burden on our riders.
Kenya Commercial Bank, our key partner in the programme, outlined the process of accessing motorcycle financing and addressed concerns raised by the Boda Boda leadership. We will also prioritize the construction of additional Boda Boda sheds, roads, and high-mast lighting, while incorporating motorcycle riding skills into the curriculum of our Vocational Training Centres (VTCs). I remain committed to advancing the welfare and growth of the Boda Boda sector.
Present were Deputy Governor H E David Kones, Chief of Staff Peter Ketyenya, CECs Stephen Kuria and Zipporah Wambui, Deputy CS Newton Mwaura, Chief Officers Kibet Kurgat, Francis Njoroge, Joseph Kibusya and Gladys Kamuren, and KCB team led by General Manager David Nyamu.
Hosted the Senate County Public Investments and Special Funds Committee, led by Chairman Senator Godfrey Osotsi, during a courtesy call ahead of their inspection tour of public utilities across Nakuru County.
I welcomed the committee and expressed my appreciation for their visit as part of their oversight mandate. As a county, we remain committed to transparency and accountability. I noted that although Nakuru is a water-scarce county, investments in boreholes have increased access to clean and safe drinking water to 63 per cent. I also highlighted that NAWASSCO was recently ranked the best-performing water service provider in the country.
Our health facilities continue to make significant progress, with improved quality and more timely service delivery. We are now offering more specialised healthcare, including the recently established optical laboratory at the Nakuru Teaching and Referral Hospital. We look forward to receiving the committee's feedback and implementing its recommendations to further strengthen service delivery.
Present were Deputy Governor H E David Kones, Chief of Staff Peter Ketyenya, and County Executive Committee Members Nelson Maara and John Kihagi.
Our Senator chose to run away rather than join her Senate colleagues on the oversight visit, fearing embarrassment from the impressive results of your transformation. Instead of facing reality on the ground, she continues speaking in churches. The stark difference between her claims and Nakuru’s visible progress is telling. What a shame!
