Exciting news for Hinsdale - Humble Patty is coming to town!

I’m thrilled to welcome this new concept from Sam and Patricia Vlahos, co-owners of Fuller House, to the former Dips N Dogs space in downtown Hinsdale. Humble Patty will bring smashburgers and dipped ice cream together under one roof - creating a fun, family-friendly destination where Hinsdale residents of all ages can gather, connect, and enjoy great food together.

This is exactly the kind of thoughtful investment that continues to strengthen Hinsdale as one of the premier dining destinations for families in the region. Sam and Patricia have already helped elevate our downtown through Fuller House, and I’m excited to see them continue investing in our community with another creative and exciting concept.

Congratulations to Sam and Patricia and the entire Humble Patty team. We can’t wait to welcome you back to Hinsdale!

We are actively watching events unfold in Springfield tonight as lawmakers consider a number of pieces of legislation that could impact suburban communities like Hinsdale.

One of those pieces of legislation is the Building Up Illinois Developments (BUILD) Act. Since this legislation was introduced, I have worked directly with legislators and regional leaders to make sure Hinsdale’s concerns about any reduction of local control were known and clear. I also made a personal trip to Springfield and have remained in direct contact with legislators throughout the session as discussions continued to evolve regarding how this legislation, as written, could impact our community.

We will continue monitoring events in Springfield as they unfold tonight. I will continue fighting for the principle that local communities are best positioned to make decisions about their neighborhoods and future developments.

Today, I had the honor of swearing in Firefighter/Paramedic Kevin Brongiel to the Hinsdale Fire Department and pinning his badge alongside members of the department.

Kevin is joining a team known for its professionalism, dedication, and service to our community. We are grateful for his commitment to protecting Hinsdale and proud to welcome him to the department. Congratulations Kevin - and welcome aboard!

Today, I joined hundreds of Hinsdale residents on the front lawn of our Memorial Building to honor and remember the men and women who gave everything in service to our country.

Inside the Memorial Building are the names of Hinsdale residents who made that sacrifice, including Medal of Honor recipient Lance Corporal Lester Weber, a Hinsdale native who gave his life protecting the Marines beside him in Vietnam at just 21 years old.

As America marks its 250th year, Memorial Day reminds us that freedom is never guaranteed. It is preserved by generations willing to serve something bigger than themselves.

May we never forget their sacrifice.

Today I stopped by the Hinsdale Fire Department to thank our firefighters and paramedics for everything they do to keep our community safe.

From medical emergencies to fires and rescues, these men and women serve Hinsdale with professionalism, courage, and compassion every single day. I was also proud to sign a proclamation recognizing Emergency Medical Services Week and the incredible dedication of our Fire and EMS professionals. Last night, we also lit the Memorial Building red in honor of the lifesaving work our first responders perform each day.

Yesterday, I issued a proclamation recognizing ALS Awareness Month and honoring the life, courage, and resilience of Matty Beuke. I was proud to stand alongside the Beuke family, longtime Hinsdale residents whose advocacy continues to make a difference in the fight against this devastating disease.

Matty’s battle with ALS, and the continued impact of the #MattyMatters movement, have helped bring greater awareness to ALS and the urgent need for continued research and a cure. His story continues to inspire so many across our community and beyond.

The proclamation also served as an opportunity to stand with all individuals and families impacted by ALS, including those here in Hinsdale, who continue to face this disease with extraordinary strength and perseverance every day. 💙

Today, I was proud to issue a proclamation recognizing Peace Officers Memorial Day and honoring the dedicated men and women of the Hinsdale Police Department for their service, sacrifice, and unwavering commitment to keeping our community safe.

In recognition of their work and the sacrifices made by law enforcement officers across our country, Village Hall will be lit up blue tonight through Sunday.

Hinsdale proudly stands with the men and women who wear the badge and protect our community every day.

Today, the Village of Hinsdale recognized May as Jewish American Heritage Month and celebrated the countless contributions Jewish Americans have made to the United States, the State of Illinois, and our own community.

At a time when antisemitism is rising across the country, it is important that we continue to stand together, reject hatred and bigotry in all forms, and reaffirm that Hinsdale is a community where everyone is valued and respected.

Great morning celebrating the ribbon cutting for Hinsdale’s new Downtown Pedestrian Walkway - improving the connection between our parking structure and the heart of downtown Hinsdale.

As Hinsdale continues to grow as a dining and shopping destination, projects like this help improve access, convenience, and the overall downtown experience for residents and visitors alike.

Proud this came together through strong partnerships and collaboration. Thank you to the Hinsdale Chamber of Commerce, Senator Suzy Glowiak Hilton, Representative Marti Deuter, and former Representative Jenn Ladisch Douglass for helping secure the grant funding that made this project possible. @HinsdaleChamber

To Alex - an amazing mom, accomplished professional, and the person who somehow keeps our family moving through the chaos of everyday life with grace, intelligence, and love.

And to my mom - thank you for always being there for our family, for supporting me through everything, and for being such a wonderful Grammy to Madeleine, George, and Catherine.

I had the opportunity to welcome the women of Assistance League Chicagoland West to Village Hall as we recognized their 30th anniversary with an official proclamation.

For 30 years, their volunteer driven work has supported thousands of individuals and families across our area. It is a great reminder of the impact that committed community members can have when they come together with a shared purpose.

Grateful for their partnership and proud to celebrate this milestone with them.
