@MartinMurphyILO@ilo Thanks Martin, it’s been a great pleasure working with you and colleagues over the past ten years, and an absolute privilege to have been Deputy Director General of the ILO. But now looking forward to returning home to Australia and seeing what the future holds. All the best.
Sincere congratulations to Gilbert Houngbo on his election as ILO DG. A significant milestone, for after 102 years the ILO has an African DG. Bon courage and best wishes Gilbert.

If elected as Director-General of the ILO, I will commit more staff and resources to our field offices - providing expert support to address issues on the ground, working side by side with workers, employers and governments to improve lives and livelihoods.
It was a privilege to meet again with the Hon Minister of Labour & Employment of Nigeria, @SenChrisNgige to discuss issues impacting the world of work Africa and 🇳🇬 - including youth employment, labour migration and the importance of social protection.
Valuable meeting for Australia’s candidate for @ilo DG @_GregVines with Nigeria’s Minister of Labour Dr Ngige to discuss his vision for increasing ILO impact in Africa. It was great to hear the Minister’s firsthand perspectives.
The pandemic has thrown a spotlight on our care systems & exposed many gaps.
These failings are not just a question of rights or human dignity, they also affect the #worldofwork.

Great #IWD2022 discussion on the care economy.
Developing the care economy is good economics, it's good socially & it's good for gender equality.
It's about extending the instinctive solidarity we feel for our family to wider society. And it's an investment that will pay back.
The ILO I lead will be gender-balanced and reflect the geographic and cultural diversity of its constituents - within its staffing, governance and work on the ground.
This is the only way we can truly understand and respond to challenges and opportunities in the #worldofwork.
Today, on International Women's Day, we celebrate the achievements of women and the progress towards global gender equality.
But year-round we must be doing more. We must advocate and empower women. We must set ambitious targets, track progress and stay accountable.

The @ILO's duty is to stand in solidarity with the government, workers and employers of Ukraine and to join the rest of the UN in providing all possible assistance to them.
Goals pursued through aggression and violation of human rights must not prevail.

The science is clear, urgent action is needed.
Under my leadership the ILO will strengthen its critical role, working with govts, workers and employers, in ensuring just transitions to a green economy so that decent work and environmental sustainability progress in hand in hand.
