@KatelynJaeW @thelilbunny @twiddlenem each of the writers must have been delusional, unaware or willingly deceptive.
Anyhow, at this point my brains fried, but I thank you for at least being willing to have a discussion with me, even if I don't yet have all the knowledge to properly bolster my point.
@KatelynJaeW @thelilbunny @twiddlenem have faith that those who translated it did so in a way that truthfully relays the message, but for any document in this day and age, we are meant to trust those that came before us in the same way. I believe the discrediting of the Bible of the author is mainly due to assuming-
@KatelynJaeW @thelilbunny @twiddlenem But so long as some of it isn't changed over the years and remains the same (which I know the Catholic Church holds itself too, but that's beside the point), I stand by the notion that believing in at least the parts that hold up is not a blind endeavor.
@thelilbunny @KatelynJaeW @twiddlenem To be completely honest with y'all, scripture has always been my weakest subject (Just like history in school), but based on reasoning alone I just find it illogical to write off every single word in it as either a lie or a delusional ramble. I aim to learn more as time goes
@KatelynJaeW @thelilbunny @twiddlenem Nope, went to secular schools all my life, one of my parents doesn't practice at all and the other isn't involved in the faith but took me to church growing up. I didn't understand much it as a kid, but made the decision to learn about it more on my own in high school
@KatelynJaeW @thelilbunny @twiddlenem In all honesty, if it's said to be conducted differently from other denominations I'm skeptical of that idea, but acknowledge it as a possibility.
@KatelynJaeW @thelilbunny @twiddlenem Some of the Bible's passages were written by kings, literal government members, and I don't think it's fair to consider every single precept of scripture as nontracable to a source.
@KatelynJaeW @thelilbunny @twiddlenem It isn't the case for the Catholic Church, the church I personally am a part of. But I don't know the specifics of the team of scientists they commission to investigate
@KatelynJaeW @thelilbunny @twiddlenem supporting someone of the recorded writings as well, though I'm not knowledgeable enough to know each and every one.
@KatelynJaeW @thelilbunny @twiddlenem Writing off the multiple varying authors of the Bible as sheep herders aside, history at that time did not have to means for photographic evidence, and government documents is simply written things on paper in the same way. I'm sure there is scientific research actually-
@thelilbunny @KatelynJaeW @twiddlenem By that logic, the idea of having faith that the sun will rise tomorrow even though it's scientifically said to do so daily is impossible as well.
