Bismillāh.
I'm excited to share my new Substack publication: Islamic Finance, Simply.
If you've followed Mindful Reflections, you know I believe good writing should leave the reader with more clarity, and I always write with a 7-year old reader in mind.
That's exactly what I hope to do here, inshā Allāh, to break down Islamic finance into simple, practical, easy-to-follow ideas for complete beginners.
Kindly share with your folks and subscribe! (link in the comments)
May Allāh place barakah in it. Aameen.
Some of you will have fulfilling marriages, but instead of enjoying them, you’ll bring them here and cause problems for you and your spouse. You expose their vulnerability online and expose them to dragging
Ibn al-Jawzi رحمه الله said:
“My son, do not let your past carelessness make you lose hope of achieving good, for many people have come back to wakefulness after long sleep."

You don't need $25,000 for a wedding anywhere.
Even in England I went to so many weddings where we just went back to the person house had sandwiches and a cup of tea, that was it. They spent $50 max. The expense is borne out of our culture.

It’s the usual Nigerian “sharpness” syndrome where everyone is desperate to be a “sharp guy”. In a society where cutting corners is celebrated as wisdom, integrity will always be treated like naïveté.
After the live game, I’d walk up to people and interview them. I noticed that a lot of people were saying No. It usually goes like this.
Me: Hi, can I interview you?
Them: Where will you post it?
Me: My social media
Them: I will pass
So I reframed it
Me: Hi, can I interview you for MoneyAfrica, a leading financial literacy platform with about 1 million following across multiple platforms.
Them: YES
If you keep getting Nos, consider reframing your offering.
notes from today:
the believer sees even the smallest sin as a huge boulder hanging over his head, ready to crush him. so he rushes to make istighfar immediately. he doesn’t wait. he doesn’t say, i will do it tomorrow, no, right now.
whereas the evildoer (faasiq) sees even the greatest sin as a fly sitting on his nose. he simply brushes it away like its nothing.
when Adam made a mistake, he immediately went to tawbah. O Allāh, we made dhulm on ourselves, so forgive us, if You don't forgive us, we will be destroyed. and Allāh forgave them.
when Iblees made a mistake, he did not own his misdeed. instead, he said "Give me time, till the Day of Judgement" don't punish me now, punish me then. what's logical is asking for forgiveness, instead he is asking for the punishment to be delayed. this is exactly what it means when we delay tawbah.
when you commit a sin, be quick to make istighfār. if it’s a mistake with regard to the rights of Allāh, then make istighfār to Allāh, maybe give some sadaqah as well and never go back to it.
if it is a mistake or a sin or something you have done against people, against anybody, then a second thing is required, which is, apologizing to the person you wronged and compensating them if necessary.
Again, bring back public and televised execution of killers, armed robbers, kidnappers & terrorists. Death sentences must be signed swiftly & carried out by those who are empowered by law to do so as soon as the court pronounces it. The decadence & evil in our society are on the rise because people no longer fear retribution simply because it is now nonexistent in Nigeria. It should be an eye for an eye, a life for a life. How can these little kids be this cruel?
Our dad is fighting for his life in a hospital bed and time is slipping through our fingers.🥺
He has end-stage kidney disease and urgently needs a transplant to survive.

When you visit the doctor's office, the nurse would take your details e.g. temperature, pulse, etc before you see the doctor.
If you jump straight to the doctor's office, they can send you back to the nurse for preliminary examination.
That is what the Supreme Court has done.
