New: Charlotte County Deputy Retires After Shooting That Killed Man in Deep Creek
CHARLOTTE COUNTY, FL โ Deputy First Class Timothy Poole, a 22-year veteran of the sheriffโs office, submitted his retirement, two weeks after he shot and killed 50-year-old Daniel Scott Burch during a confrontation in the Saxony Circle condo complex in Deep Creek.
Earlier that morning, deputies responded to multiple calls at the complexโfirst a criminal mischief complaint against Burch, then later a reported physical assault at the Deep Creek Golf Club.
When officers arrived, body-cam footage shows a confrontation in which Poole fired at Burch, who later died at the hospital.
The sheriff has stated that Pooleโs retirement does not affect the ongoing investigation.

The officer, a 20-year veteran of the department, fired several rounds, fatally wounding Wilks.
