@TrpstrLeonOG Working in a doctors’ office handling prior authorizations with insurance companies is SOOOOOO DAMN AGGRAVATING. Most of the people reviewing the claims are not physicians.
Insurance rep: “Your claim was denied.”
Me: “Why?”
Insurance rep: “The procedure wasn’t medically necessary.”
Me: “My doctor ordered it.”
Insurance rep: “Yes.”
Me: “A specialist agreed.”
Insurance rep: “Yes.”
Me: “So who decided it wasn’t necessary?”
Insurance rep: “Our review team.”
Me: “Are they doctors?”
Insurance rep: “I don’t have that information.”
The bill was $3,260.
I pay them $428 every month.
Apparently I’m paying $5,136 a year so someone I’ve never met can overrule the doctor standing in front of me.
Very reassuring system.
The minimum wage should cover rent, food, healthcare, children’s education, and transportation. If it doesn’t, then it’s neither a minimum wage nor a living wage. And I’m not arguing about it with anyone.
@jas_d_barbie Your reason for seeing the doctor may be extremely less serious/ detrimental to your health than what the other patients are there for. If you do have serious issues & feel like your Dr. isn’t addressing them, ask that the refusals be documented & also consider switching Docs
@beyoncegarden U gotta watch them “friends” that always do weird shit when the spotlight is on u. Hate comes disguised as “jokes” and “playing” sometimes
Hot take: a lot of older black women believe hairstyles for little black girls were “too grown” because their husbands and brothers were attracted to children. They were afraid these little black girls would “steal the attention of older men”
I don’t think I’m tired because I need more sleep anymore. I think I’m tired because life has been loud for too long. Like I need a cabin by a lake, my phone turned off, no notifications, and about six months to remember what being a person actually feels like.
I once sat with a girl who told me she had been raped.
She had gone to spend the night at her boyfriend’s house, & he spiked her drink.
She woke up to signs of sexual assault — confused, scared, & hurt.
I told her we could go together to make a police report.
I sat beside her as the officer said things like:
‘You shouldn’t have gone over there.’
‘You shouldn’t have stayed the night.’
‘You shouldn’t have accepted a drink.’
‘You shouldn’t have been drinking alcohol at all.’
Every word he said was about what she did wrong — not about what was done to her.
I corrected him. I told him that none of the choices she made were her fault.
None of this was her fault.
He was the one who drugged and assaulted her. It’s not ok to say it’s her fault. He was shocked and mumbled well “no”
Instead of taking her report with professionalism, without judgment, without bias — he made her feel blamed.
She left without filing charges.
This is how rape culture persists
YOU CLEARLY HAVE A SHITTY GOVERNMENT WHEN THE GOVERNMENT BUYS "SHOCK GLOVES" FOR THEIR SECRET POLICE INSTEAD OF FOOD AND SUPPLIES FOR ITS SAILORS WHO HAVE BEEN STUCK ON A SHIP FOR 8 + MONTHS 😒
the lady that said “if we agree to lock all the men in the world in one room, one woman will steal the keys and open the door from them” did not lie at all
I’m sorry but at what point do yall stop dancing like circus monkeys and acknowledge that having to jump through hoops to survive is simply unacceptable? The grocery bill is high because of inflation & corporate greed.
