My grandpa and I had our last session together. We were able to assess his learning and he assessed my tutoring. He has progressed really well but not perfect! He helped me determine what I could do better and what I did well while teaching! @YEPeducation #LetsTeachAdults

Last week my grandpa and I continued to work on the Kawasaki rose. This is very complex and each step must be done carefully. We have ripped many pieces of paper but continue to practice! We continue to use photo instructions & video steps. @YEPeducation #LetsTeachAdults

This week I introduced my grandpa to the Kawasaki rose instructions. Knowing his learning style, this week we utilized YouTube videos to slowly take this origami piece step-by-step. Using a video was helpful for him to see the exact folds needed! @YEPeducation #LetsTeachAdults

This week my grandpa and I had a practice week! We worked on some older instructions to see how much he has improved. His origami is cleaner and his ability to fold has improved immensely! @YEPeducation #LetsTeachAdults

This week we continued working on origami flowers to gradually increase complexity to obtain our goal! We worked on a water Lily this week. @YEPeducation #LetsBeAdults

This week my grandpa chose an origami flower to try to make. The one selected was too complicated, instead I taught him how to make a tulip as a starting point to move into more complex flowers! End goal: make a Kawasaki rose (his original pick) @YEPeducation #LetsTeachAdults

This week I introduced the idea of creating one piece of origami with more than one piece of paper. Starting with a more simple piece called a Shuriken. I have asked him to look for something he wants to make @YEPeducation #letsteachadults

This week I decided to focus on Valentine's origami! I taught my grandpa how to make hearts and origami cards for my grandma 😊 @YEPeducation #LetsTeachAdults

This week we started the lesson by outlining any issues and questions my grandpa had about the swan! Once he felt comfortable making the swan alone, we moved on to box instructions! This time including both images and words! @YEPeducation #LetsTeachAdults

This week I started teaching my grandpa how to fold a swan! I provided him a copy of these instructions to see how far he could get alone. He started to struggle at #8 so we started from there. Homework: practice steps 8 -12. @YEPeducation #LetsTeachAdults

This week I went over the 4 folds we learned last week and added 3 more! I provided my grandfather with this sheet to help him practice the folds during the week! (Diamond fold not included yet + too complex) @YEPeducation #LetsTeachAdults

This semester I've decided to teach my grandpa origami! To start, I decided to use the first class to go over the different folds that are usually included in simple origami instructions @YEPeducation #letsteachadults

@danielabasciano @YEPeducation He only did one, but it took like a few days as he kept erasing and redoing haha and choosing the colours took even longer! 😋

This week my grandpa painted his sketch!! Look at the original idea, his sketch and his final product!! He is kind of a perfectionist so he wasn't 100% satisfied, but more reason to keep practicing 😊 @YEPeducation #YEPeducation #letsteachadults #tuesday1pm
