๐ The NCAA has confirmed a number of significant rule changes coming to college soccer next season.
๐ Here is what you need to know:
๐น Video Challenges
Each coach gets two challenges per game. Officials can only initiate reviews in the final 10 minutes of regulation or overtime - and only if a team has no challenges remaining.
๐งค Goalkeeper Release Time
Increased from 6 to 8 seconds, with a visual countdown for the final 5. A corner kick - not an indirect free kick - will be awarded for violations. This now aligns with international rules.
๐ Substitutions
Teams in DII and DIII men's and all women's divisions can now make substitutions any time the clock is stopped - bringing them in line with DI men's rules.
๐ Other notable changes:
โช๏ธ Mandatory 4th official and video match official in DI men's and women's games
โช๏ธ Running clock in final 15 minutes with a 5-goal margin in women's and DII/DIII men's regular season โช๏ธ Yellow cards to coaching staff charged to the head coach
โช๏ธ Red card penalties per incident only - no extra games for multiple red cards
โช๏ธ Data devices permitted on wrist or arm if padded and covered
โช๏ธ Maximum 3-hour weather delay window before or after start
