This is my dear friend, Nakita.
Nakita and I were medical school classmates and both interns in New York City. Nakita tragically took her own life on May 26.
She is such a beautiful soul. She was so fun to be around. She was intelligent, charismatic, and confident. (1/x)

A quick story. I’m on ambulatory medicine at the VA. Yesterday I went to get a patient from the waiting room. A Black man who served in Vietnam. When I introduced myself as Dr. Igwe, he gave me a very strange look. I asked if I had the wrong person, but he said “no, that’s me”.
Today marks 6 months since I graduated from medical school, fulfilling a dream a lifetime in the making. I’m getting exceptional training and taking care of people at their most vulnerable moments. It’s truly a blessing!

Studying for Step 3 has me once again incredibly annoyed and frustrated with the concept of standardized tests.
Draining my money & “free time” for way too long. Excited to say good riddance to USMLE in a couple weeks ✌🏿
