Back in September of last year, when we decided to bring Roger back, I sent the team a YouTube link to “that famous video” because I wanted us to recreate it. Some of the younger team members had never seen it before.

I wasn’t personally involved in editing this video, but I heard yesterday that around springtime the team was actually hesitating over whether to include the recreation because they were running out of time. Apparently, Nakatsu’s final direction was, “We absolutely have to do it.”

To be honest, I had already given up on it myself. I thought, “They probably won’t do that gag anymore. They’ve probably forgotten about it.”

So when I saw it yesterday, it genuinely made me smile. I thought, “Ah, they actually did it!”

I hope that in a future balance patch, Tailspin will be changed so that every character can only use it once per combo.

It’s one of the main reasons combos have become so long, and I think it creates imbalance because some characters can only use it once, some can only use it again after using Heat Burst, while others can use it twice even without Heat Burst.

Hopefully it happens someday…

This is how combos would look in Tekken 8 without Heat Burst and with Tailspin limited to a single use. This looks a lot snappier. I like it.

Tekken 8 has nailed EVERY SINGLE QOL aspect a fighting game can have BUT the GAMEPLAY. This is why what the players are going through hurts so bad. Because once you actually play T7 the gameplay feels so good, but every single other aspect of the game sucks compared to 8. Sigh..
