I specifically chose to buy from Taobao because they’re nearly 30% cheaper than from anywhere else. Adding frames would make it more expensive 😭 If I’d known that frames would be needed I would’ve just not bought from Taobao 😭

Shipping some acrylic sheets without wooden frames because they’re more than half the cost of the sheets themselves. Hoping that all of the other stuff it’s being consolidated with will buffer against breaks. Please let the worst damage be a little bit of chipping 🙏

Watched a couple episodes of the Chinese omegaverse drama and I’ve gotta say I’m a lot more invested in the B plot couple. (I think both couples are supposed to be equally in focus but one couple is clearly more Important and Powerful.)

Based on how many republican era AUs I’ve come across in Chinese fics, I think there’s a strong market for republican era stuff in the mainland so if they go for it hopefully it’ll do well. I’m doubtful I’ll enjoy it much but maybe I’ll change my mind if it stars JL who knows!

I was operating at close to the limit of my body’s ability to maintain a reasonable core body temperature. I dread to think how I’d survive at 80 years old with another half century of global warming and a frailer body.

Hmm okay there’s a heat index calculator on the internet that tells me that 33C with 71% humidity feels like 44C, an another table elsewhere on the internet says the wet bulb temperature would be about 36C. No wonder it felt impossible to cool down earlier today.

What I’ve learned from watering them more frequently:

1) condensation forms in the dead terrarium if there’s enough water, but it only happens for a few days before stopping while the live one keeps going
1.1) either that or I may subconsciously be watering the living one more

What I’ve learnt from having two closed-ish terrariums:

1) watering once a month is not enough if you have too few plants
2) 6 m from the nearest window is too far
3) condensation forms on living terrariums, not dead ones, even with identical watering schedules

The ones that give an estimated needle size + cake weight, fine, I can guesstimate the yarn weight, but just telling me the cake is 250g tells me nothing!! How am I supposed to know what I can use it for!!

Mostly I want both as input devices for drawing, but e-ink has the added bonus of being able to display knitting and crochet patterns (instructions for any craft really) without actually using energy. Why not copy them on paper? I worry about copying things wrongly so ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

Now that I think about it, e-ink tablets and pen displays occupy the same niche in my wishlist—expensive tech that I would love to have for hobby reasons but have no actual need for and therefore cannot justify the steep price tags to myself.

Do so many people in SG really know so much about cars and bikes that car/bike model is useful information most of the time??

People providing the model of their bikes and cars as if I know anything about vehicles 😭 the only way I’m telling apart a Honda from a BMW is by their logos. Colour and number plate are the only pieces of information I’d realistically use 😭
