This is the most “The European mind can’t comprehend this” moment of my life. One of my friends said, “Punch me five times tomorrow and I’ll still think this isn’t real.”
5 teams with a total WAR of 18 or more. 3/5 lead their division. 4/5 at least 13 games over .500
Then you have the Pirates sitting 3rd in the division and only 2 games over .500 😐
Skenes Night: He’s due. So here’s the deal. If Paul strikes out 9 or more. Like he did the last time he faced the Dodgers. And the Buccos win. I’ll give away 5 Paul Skenes jerseys. Just follow me. And retweet this post. And you’re good. Let’s go Bucs!
Getting Ryan Jeffers would be an amazing acquisition. Great righty bat that you can DH when not catching. Currently on IL so would need to do homework on how serious injury is but was having a great start to the season
Jeff Passan is baseball’s biggest insider. He says in his trade deadline preview the Pirates could still deal Carmen Mlodzinski. And predicts a trade for Twins starting catcher Ryan Jeffers. I would not like these moves. At all.
One more thing -
You can’t preplan when Mlodzinski is gonna pitch if the bullpen is as weak as it is. It forced them to pitch shorthanded.
I get what the thought process is but it doesn’t work when the pen’ needs all hands on deck.
If he pitches tonight, they probably win & if they lose tomorrow, you still took 2/3. Now you have to fight for it
He should’ve been used
It's pretty simple. We realize we have successfull NHL & NFL teams bc of their Cap & Floor system. Under the old structure in the NHL, Crosby never would have been a penguin for life. If no such system existed in the NFL, the Steelers never are able to keep Big Ben for life.
I have a hypothesis as to why this is. I believe Pittsburgh has been the biggest beneficiary of the capped leagues & the fans see the difference between the Steelers/Pens and the Pirates and recognize that the difference goes far beyond just organizational structure or operation

FIFA is so out of touch it’s insane. Cheapest ticket for Egypt/Brazil in Cleveland is $91. You want to grow the game then make a friendly affordable for a family
MLS is poor at attracting American soccer fans who wake up every Saturday morning at 7am to watch hours of European football, and that’s an audience they need to capture in this country.
The last thing they should do is make the sport unrecognizable to the rest of the world.
