امروز، ۳ شهریور، هشتاد و پنجمین سال��وز هجوم طرف‌های درگیر در یک جنگ ویرانگر به ایران است.

در بامداد روز سوم شهریور ۱۳۲۰، یعنی تنها ۸۵ سال قبل، میهن ما برای دومین بار در عرض کمتر از سه دهه، با بی‌رحمی تمام از سوی قوای نظامی کشورهای درگیر در جنگ جهانی اشغال شد؛ علیرغم اعلام بی‌طرفی رسمی حکومت شاهنشاهی که بعدها (در جریان یک سخنرانی در روز ۱۴ ابان ۱۳۵۳) محمدرضا پهلوی هم با شرمساری آن را توهم «قفس طلایی بی‌طرفی» در «جهانی با منطق زور» نامید، در آن واقعه، شوروی از شمال و شرق و انگلیس از جنوب و غرب، از زمین و هوا به ایران حمله‌ور شدند؛ ارتش بی‌انگیزه شاهنشاهی ایران در مدت چند روز متلاشی شد، شهرهای مهم به تصرف درآمدند، همه ایران اشغال شد و شاه مملکت تنها ۲۲ روز بعد از تهاجم نیروهای بیگانه، بدون مقاومت از سلطنت کناره‌گیری کرد و به شیوه‌ای تحقیرآمیز به یکی از مستعمرات دورافتاده انگلیس در اقیانوس هند تبعید شد.

آن تجربه تلخ و جانکاه هیچگاه از ضمیر ایرانیان فراموش نمی‌شود. در هر دو جنگ جهانی که اروپا بر دنیا تحمیل کرد، سخت‌تر از ویرانی کشور، از دست‌رفتن جان‌های بی‌شمار و غارت دارایی‌های ایرانیان، اهانتی بود که به حیثیت ملت شریف و نجیبی وارد آمد که در آن آتش‌افروزی‌ها هیچ نقشی نداشتند.

ایران مقتدر که با سربلندی بر ب��ران‌های سهمگین فائق آمده است، امروز در برابر آزمون سرنوشت‌ساز دیگری قرار گرفته است.

ما به تجربه آموخته‌ایم که صیانت از عزت ملی و استقلال ایران، مستلزم خودباوری و اراده‌ای مستحکم برای مقاومت است و اقتدار ملی با همه مؤلفه‌هایش تنها عامل بازدارنده و مؤثر در برابر زیاده‌خواهی و تجاوزگری بیگانه است.

Those who prefer to appear 'as obedient as shadows' say: “This is fine.”

But hold on. It is absolutely not fine.

When a bully declares that every bank, company, port, and government must choose between obeying Washington’s whims or facing American vengeance, this is no longer just about Iran.

It is about annihilating the most foundational rules of international law and the UN Charter - namely, respect for the sovereign equality and self-determination of all States.

No decent State that values its sovereignty and national interests will accept the normalization of such grand lawlessness and systemic bullying.

Canada is among those already learning that lesson... .
