Would you believe that radioactive materials ☢️were at some point in human history marketed as a source of health, vitality and beauty ?
Here’s how what would later be known as Radium helped shape modern consumer protection and occupational safety.
@DiMajor_Ke@RamzZy_ This would have started the city on having a dedicated drainage for rainwaterbut we wait to re-build the entire drainage under one project
@RamzZy_ Walahi! Roundabout island can serve as a good wetland + the green areas can also benefit from 'attenuation' tanks together slowly releasing it to the drainage...
From the Aliko Dangote groundbreaking ceremony. It pleases me to see the conversation around Africa’s industrialization moving beyond job creation towards self-sufficiency and building productive capacity.
@W_Asherah No guard rails ! When present Enforcement is nada. As we get excited with the initiative we should ask ourselves maswali. Is it Semi-processing or making actual product components.
@KenyanPenguin@Joefreemanfox@Kimuzi_ During the construction phase 60k not possible. I'm looking at the poss of it being combined figure construction + post. Post construction the refined product will need pumping/pipeline and maybe petrochemical manufacturing that are likely to emerge, ngumu 60k ?
@KenyanPenguin@Joefreemanfox@Kimuzi_ True most of the process are automated in such factories. 60k seem to be on the high, unless it is inclusive of all the supporting industries and activities that will emerge from the refinery
Funny how these Kenyan mainstream media are often among the first to report space exploration breakthroughs happening abroad, yet barely cover Kenya’s own space sector as if it doesn’t exist.
When was the last time they seriously reported on the San Marco Rocketry platform and the Luigi Broglio Space Centre near Malindi or rather the Space Bill that has been stuck in Parliament without meaningful progress for three years?
Kenya has a space story of its own... oh, doesn't it deserves the same attention..?
Aside from Starship's premature de-orbiting due to engine issues, the mission was a success. All primary goals achieved.
I doubt OneWeb, Rassvet, Guowang, or Kuiper will ever match SpaceX’s deployment capacity ?
On board this flight are 26 next-generation satellites (Starlink V3), to be deployed.
We will not witness the mechanical arms in action, as both the booster and the spaceship will perform controlled offshore splashdowns.
There is a renewed hope in the Kenyan pure and applied sciences industry, as more companies and investors are looking to set up here.
As all this is happening najiulizi will really reflect more opportunity to these fields ? Esp with the heavy automation.
Also, Kenya Space Agency is ramping up its activities, and soon we might see launches from Kenyan soil using Kenyan-made rockets.
Maybe we’ll also see fewer summons for critics😂. Yo @astro_bram you promised us this story.
Starting with the Dangote refinery in Lamu, the Taifa storage facility in Lamu is already underway, talks about setting up a nuclear plant in Siaya, and the development of the Mrima site. Then that push to set up glass manufacturing in Magadi (yet to elewa why it is a good Loc).
Starship will try to reach orbit for the first time today.
Fun fact: Up there, 275 km above Earth, gravity is still about 92% as strong as it is on your couch.
So, astronauts are floating because they are falling the whole time and not because gravity is switched off. They're just moving sideways so fast, about 7.7 km every second, that the ground keeps curving away before they can hit it.
An orbit is throwing a ball and missing the entire planet. Starship will try to miss it 6 times!
