It’s hard to know who to talk to if you’re in a #mentalhealthcrisis. You can now call 111 and select the mental health option to get help 24/7 from a mental health professional in Hull and East Yorkshire.

This is Sarah and Gemma, Wendy’s daughters. Our mum died peacefully early this morning. She wrote a blog post before she died so you can read about it from her perspective.

When I think back over my own career, the times when I felt I could do my best work & was most supported, was when I had an affirming leader. Sincere words of affirmation don't take much effort & have a disproportionate impact on people’s self-esteem. As leaders, we should never underestimate the power of our own influence. People never forget the impact of lifting, affirming words: https://t.co/dF3j8nACpc. Via @CambNetwork Graphic: @hacking_hr
For #OTWeek23 I'd really encourage all those in mental health to read this by @HoppyPelican. Perhaps the difference between activity and meaningful activity. 👇👇👇

Congratulations to Melissa who has recently qualified as an occupational therapist via apprenticeship @sheffhallamuni and been awarded prize for the Best Overall Achievement. @HumberNHSFT is proud to have Melissa as one of it's occupational therapy staff #OTWeek23@theRCOT
A fantastic video created by our @HumberNHSFT preceptorship occupational therapists and one of our occupational therapy students, highlighting the value of occupation. Well done to everyone involved. #OTWeek2023@theRCOT

Another post about the difference between thinking like an "expert" & an "explorer". An expert starts from a place of knowing a lot about the topic ("expertise"). That leads to conviction about the right thing to do, confirmation & desirability bias & validation of the current way of thinking. An explorer starts from a place of humility (appreciating there is a lot they don't know). This leads to doubt, curiosity & a stronger likelihood of discovery & breakthrough thinking. Graphic adapted from one by @anujmagazine.
@suzysopenheart It paints a very bleak picture, which I’m sure instills fear into those trying to live well beyond their diagnosis. Dementia was a part of my mum’s life, we still had moments of laughter and enjoyment.
@ClareNQOT No wise words, but I am also a NQ OT in LD services. There is SO much to learn so be kind to yourself. I’m trying to find my way. Use your preceptorship status to shadow and learn as you go. Your confidence will grow over time.
