A GoFundMe has been launched for one of the victims killed in the mass shooting outside a memorial service in Salt Lake City Wednesday night. Eight people were shot, two of them died.
The fundraiser is for Vaea Tulikihihifo Jr., "who was killed after stepping outside briefly during the service." In the GoFundMe, his family says what should have been a simple moment to take care of his family became a tragedy that changed their lives forever.
“With heavy hearts, we share the sudden and unexpected passing of our beloved brother, Vaea Tulikihihifo Jr., on January 7, 2026,” the family wrote.
They describe him as a man of faith, a devoted husband and a loving father to 12 children. One of his children is currently serving a full-time LDS mission. The fundraiser says Tulikihihifo Jr. was a hardworking provider who gave selflessly and was known for his joy, humor and unmistakable laugh.
One viewer who reached out said he worked the Costco in Orem, calling him “always so kind and happy.”
Funds raised will go toward funeral and memorial expenses, immediate living needs and ongoing support for his wife and children. The family says donations of any amount, along with prayers, are deeply appreciated as they grieve the loss of a husband, father, brother and friend.
