Indian telecom Reliance is sabotaging access to Telegram for millions of users OUTSIDE India (including the UAE) via a rogue method called BGP hijacking.

The sabotage seems intentional, as Reliance has ignored multiple reports.

This may be part of a competitive war, as Reliance is partially owned by Meta — the company behind WhatsApp.

Network operators are advised to reject unauthorized BGP announcements from Reliance (AS18101) to prevent route hijacks and ensure stable Internet access for their users.

Such abuse of global Internet routing is alarming. I wouldn’t be surprised if Reliance/WhatsApp were also behind the recent lobbying effort to ban Telegram in India.

India’s IT ministry banned Telegram for one week because some users shared leaked exam questions.

This punishes 150M+ ordinary Telegram users in India — not the insiders who leaked the exam materials.

And the ban hasn't stopped anything. The leaks just moved to other apps.

To everyone who flagged the anomalies in that image - thank you. We had spotted them too. But when something touches customer safety, we take it seriously.

Two questions became our sole focus: Was the person safe? And if something had genuinely gone wrong, where did we fail? We reached out urgently. Repeatedly. You now know what this really was.

What stands out for me in this episode is the response from our Customer care team. No panic, no shortcuts. Just a quiet, methodical focus on the facts. I couldn't be prouder. It was a powerful reflection of a culture that does the right thing even when no one is watching.

As for the motive behind this I'll leave that to others to judge. But two things are clear:

1. AI, when misused, is not a harmless tool. It can damage reputation and trust.
2. If this was a deliberate attempt at defamation, it reflects a worrying decline in standards. Competition belongs in the marketplace, in innovation, in execution, in earning the customer's trust. Not in manufactured crises.

Lava is a Indian smartphone company who is truly delivering what people wants. I have used 5-6 smartphones of lava till now. Got a review unit from them. The most important thing about Lava is they never censored my posts if its negative also. Moreover they work on the feedbacks and tried to overcome the issues. Above all, they are coming up with better software with every update and good smartphones in better price. I must say Lava has a better future in coming days. Kudos to the team @LavaMobile and @reachraina

A creator who speaks up for people, then a negative PR campaign is run against him, it's the first time I can see such tactics being used.

Those paid accounts here on Twitter who are doing have been blocked by me today, for others in the tech community they should do the same.

We really need to fight back against these paid trolls who have no authenticity and are ready to damage someone reputation just for some money.
