During their two and a half hour meeting, the group discussed the range of addictions treated at Northlands – mostly alcohol-related but increasingly involving drugs and gambling – and also considered how addiction was addressed elsewhere in the UK and in the Republic of Ireland.
The Alliance Party leader, and former Minister of Justice for Northern Ireland, @naomi_long MLA, visited Northlands Addiction Treatment Centre, this afternoon, to hear about our plans for a new centre of excellence to treat the illness.
Head of Treatment, Tommy Canning, gave the politicians an insight into the work done at Northlands and updated them on the organisation’s ambition to build a new state of the art centre to replace the current building.
