We are healing from the trauma of a global pandemic, the
@NYCMayor
&
@NYCCouncil
is funneling hundreds of millions into school policing & only investing $12 Million into restorative justice. We reiterate our demand: #NoNewSchoolPolice and do not backfill for attrition.
#PoliceFreeSchools#CounselorsNotCops#NYCBudget#CRE4NYC
We are at City Hall Park to hold @NYCMayor & City Council accountable to funding our demands. Students deserve a budget that centers equity and prioritizes students who have been historically marginalized & neglected
TY @MarkTreyger718, @Dromm25 & @NYCSpeakerCoJo for fighting for Community Schools. Despite all our victories, 52 schools are seeing painful cuts. We know you’ll continue to fight to right this wrong! @CoalitionforCo2
Despite historic investments in NYC community schools, & most schools seeing increases, 52 schools are seeing painful cuts as we look towards a challenging new school year. @Chalkbeat: https://t.co/62SniptXF0 #SAVECommunitySchools@NYCMayor@DOEChancellor
@NYC_CommSchools nurture & empower the whole child, family, & community. Though most schools saw increases this month, 52 saw painful cuts. Now is not the time to cut services that are needed more than ever. #SAVECommunitySchools https://t.co/62SniptXF0 @NYCMayor@DOEChancellor

Thank you @reemadamin for capturing the voices of @CoalitionforCo2 members on both the increases and cuts to CommunitySchools contracts as we prepare to welcome students back in the Fall.
Nearly 30 education justice organizations sent a letter to @NYCSpeakerCoJo and the @NYCCouncil calling on them to fully fund restorative justice in our schools and to not hire 554 new school cops. It's time to invest in systems of care. #NoNewSchoolCops#PoliceFreeSchools

Thread on the SHSAT:
5,879 AAPI students took the SHSAT this year and did NOT receive an offer. Many of them put 100s of hours + $1000s into a process that didn't pay off.
The SHSAT is bad for all groups. Yesterday's @TeensTakeCharge rally made that abundantly clear. (1/4)
A6: We are out here with @UYC_YouthPower@DSC_NY centering youth voices, educating our community in the BX and getting people out to vote!
