Imagine a Christianity where the whole country knows that the children of Christians cannot impress their parents by how much money they've made or how famous they are.

Imagine a Nigeria where everyone knows that the only way to impress christians is by serving Jesus and using all your gifts to improve God's creatures irrespective of how much money or fame it makes.

Imagine the righteousness. Imagine the security, peace, beauty that will follow.

That is what it means to be salt and light that the world will glorify your God for. This is the special thing that we have to offer this world that unbelievers cannot get because it's not under God's general (common) grace for all.

Apostle Peter said it best.

1 Peter 2:12 (ESV)
12 Keep your conduct among the Gentiles honorable, so that when they speak against you as evildoers, they may see your good deeds and glorify God on the day of visitation.

A tiny drop of salt will sweeten the whole pot. A tiny fraction of the population being true christians is all this country needs.

Have you ever thought a tweet was brilliant until you read someone else's comment, opening you up to problematic or invalid aspects of the tweet? Yes. We have all been there.

Personally, I can't comment on every trending socio-political issue, but I will not avoid commenting on such issues completely. How I decide what to comment on is a matrix of many converging considerations. But, not my focus right now.

Why do I comment on such issues at all? First, because it is part of my duty. Secondly, to ensure that the candle of reason and logic is not quenched by the loud noise of those who think with their feelings or those who intentionally try to derail others by their smart sounding but malevolent illogicalities. Thirdly, to provide a reasonable and hopefully clarifying alternative-perspective for sincere seekers of truth. Fourth, to impede the speed at which my own corner of our society is socially engineered away from reason, logic, morality, ethics, and the other virtues and values that must be the mooring of any society where human flourishing can proceed.

About social engineering: it is an ongoing, intentional, sometimes, unintentional project that must be confronted – headlong and subversively. It aims at mass-producing human beings to think, believe, and behave in ways that are predetermined and calculated by the engineers to grant them control over the masses without the society realizing.

Social engineering is an effective means that can be used to normalize abnormalities, absurdity, and immorality while giving people a false sense of ideological agency and autonomy. It is an art, subtle in effect, even when it is brazen in its processes. "Pride month," the recurring promotion of cohabitation on the timeline, and the glamourization of prostitution, renamed as OS, are all attempts at social engineering. Many believers have been engineered to different degrees. But, I know that some resistant strain (of believers) have nevertheless remained unmodified in their persuasion.

A not-fun fact: the very fact that some Christians think I should not speak to uncomfortable public issues is a testament to the success of social engineering. Some form of social engineering is why you think an unbeliever should not be reproved for his or her public expressions of immorality, impropriety, and philosophy.

A public figure is a role model of some sort, willingly or unwittingly, because s/he influences how people behave in reality. S/he is a soul, needing to be loved and sought and saved. Yes. S/he is also an ideologue, an institution of some kind, serving as a mascot and poster child for some ideology. Burna Boy is not just a boy. He is a brush. Tinubu is not just a man. He is also a town-hall.

Sometimes we need to address the voice, the town-hall that is embodied by the individual but because these expressions are bound up in the persons, it is hardly possible to deal with the embodied elements and ideologies without appearing to be punching the embodying individual. At other times, it would be necessary to deal with the individual AS (if s/he is the same as) the ideology. Yes. This is an inevitable consequence of adding public coloration to your private reality. So, Mary may receive a faith-building tutorial while Zacharias may get a faith-querying strike. You know, Zacharias was not just a private citizen. He was more. And that meant more.

When I do comment on the few issues I have time to write about, some people are gonna find it helpful and/or appropriate, others will find it inconveniencing and some will think it is inappropriate for me to express a view on any such subject. These positions are usually indicative of where different people are on the social engineering spectrum, as subjects.

Sometimes, it is difficult for me to write on the matters I comment about. So, I understand that it might be unsettling for some people to read.

But, such is life.

Contentment is to be satisfied with the finances and status that serving God brings you.

Contentment is to enjoy the company of your friends and family when you're single. And when your married, it's to be happy with the pleasures of your spouse alone and desire no other.

Contentment is to be pleased with what doing good brings to you and not to desire any profit of evil and sin.
