“We, (MCDTI), are working with Cabinet to introduce a policy requiring identity verification for individuals accessing X-rated websites, using a driver’s licence or national identification card.”
—Minister for Communication, Digital Technology and Innovation, Hon. Samuel Nartey George, has suggested a policy that would require individuals to present a National ID card or driver’s licence before accessing pornographic websites as part of efforts to protect minors against harmful online content and influences.
Ghana head coach Carlos Queiroz has unveiled his final 26-man squad for the 2026 FIFA World Cup, set to be hosted across the United States, Canada and Mexico.
The Bank of Ghana (BoG) has filed an appeal at the Supreme Court to challenge the Court of Appeal’s ruling that ordered the restoration of GN Savings and Loans’ licence.
Background in brief
1. 2019 revocation: BoG revoked GN Savings and Loans’ licence on Aug 16, 2019 as part of the banking sector clean-up, citing governance weaknesses and failure to meet debt obligations.
2. High Court 2024: In Jan 2024, the High Court upheld the revocation, agreeing with BoG that the company failed to prove solvency at the time.
3. Court of Appeal May 21, 2026: A 3-member panel unanimously overturned both the High Court ruling and BoG’s 2019 decision. It held the revocation was “unfair and unreasonable” and ordered the receiver to return possession, control and management of assets to Groupe Nduom.
What BoG is arguing now
BoG’s application to the Supreme Court says the Court of Appeal “erred in law”:
• The appellants didn’t comply with procedural rules requiring clear particulars of alleged errors of law in the notice of appeal.
• The Court of Appeal wrongly ruled that BoG should have considered the advisor’s report before withdrawing the licence.
BoG is asking the Supreme Court to set aside the Court of Appeal’s judgment and reinstate the High Court’s decision that upheld the revocation.
Paa Kwesi Nduom announced that Elmina in the Central Region will be the first GN Bank branch to reopen.
Other branches are expected to resume operations gradually across the country over the coming months.
He said the bank will rebuild “with renewed confidence” and focus on stronger operations and better service delivery.
Official Statement on Mohammed Kudus – 2026 FIFA World Cup
The Ghana Football Association and the Black Stars technical team confirm that Mohammed Kudus will not be part of Ghana’s squad for the 2026 FIFA World Cup.
Following medical assessment and consultation with Tottenham Hotspur, it has been determined that Kudus has not recovered sufficiently from the quad injury and subsequent setback sustained earlier this year. He remains in rehabilitation and will not be medically fit for the tournament.
We acknowledge his contribution to the qualification campaign and wish him a full and speedy recovery. The coaching staff will continue to monitor his progress ahead of future assignments.
