You can look up L3 cache but the short version is that the X3D CPUs boost performance by having more data at the ready on the CPU. Giving more FPS and usually better framerate stability, for an overall smoother visual experience

Not a substantial upgrade and now is a terrible time to buy a GPU. I'd recommend research on gamers nexus or Hardware Unboxed on youtube

@onesolosoldier @Brammflakes @John_Wardogs I want to share here for the gaming community, if you are starting to notice CPU constraints while gaming and you are also due for a GPU upgrade, I'd recommend AMD GPUs. They have less driver overhead and thus will take your older CPU further.

Switching to Intel will limit his potential upgrades and he will also need to swap motherboards. Your advice is shit!
