Semaj Washington, a 6’1” freshman guard from John Wood, showed flashes of his potential at the Midwest Juco Jamboree. He displayed creativity off the bounce, demonstrating the ability to break down defenses and create scoring opportunities for himself and his teammates. Washington knocked down shots from mid-range and beyond the arc, finished effectively at the rim through contact, and made smart, timely passes that highlighted his court vision and basketball IQ.
Defensively, Washington stood out with his on-ball pressure, using positioning, awareness, and anticipation to challenge shots and come up with steals. His defensive instincts allowed him to disrupt opponents and make an impact on that end of the floor. With more consistency in his shot selection, decision-making, and overall play, Washington has the tools to develop into an all-conference guard and a significant contributor in the Mid-West Athletic Conference.
