I have noticed a resurgence in people around my age, male and female, saying they're thinking of joining Óglaigh na hÉireann and it makes me so happy.
But thinking of it easy.
If you want it...do it.
And if you think you can't...yes, you can.
Even just the reserves who are looking for recruits now more than ever as something part time you can do besides your ordinary life, adding a bit of extraordinary to it.
Spoken well here from Private Daisy Byrne who I definitely recommend following!

This year is my mams 7th year anniversary and to mark it this year I will be doing a 70km Ultra Marathon, to raise much needed funds in her memory for the Irish Heart foundation. This event will represent everything my mam showed throughout her life - hard-work, determination
anthe willingness to never give up.
This years charity is different for many reasons, the main one being it’s a charity that directly supports my best friend who is currently fighting a heart problem at a young age, My mam absolutely adored Craig and she would be so proud of him.
On 09 September 25, the Defence Forces unveiled the new Óglaigh na hÉireann GAA jerseys in Croke Park. A symbol of our shared organisational values of community, teamwork, and pride.
Defence Forces GAA President Major General Anthony McKenna was in attendance and said “I am delighted to be here today for the launch of the new Óglaigh na hÉireann Cumann Luthchleas Gael jerseys. The GAA and the Defence Forces share deeply rooted values of community, teamwork, and commitment, and we have always enjoyed a proud tradition of working closely together. These jerseys are a symbol not only of our partnership but also of the enduring spirit of service and pride that both organisations represent. I look forward to seeing them worn with the same dedication and passion that define both Óglaigh na hÉireann and Cumann Luthchleas Gael. Ag tacu agus ag eadroma ar gCluichi Naisiunta”.
Uachtarán Chumann Lúthchleas Gael Jarlath Burns said:
"I am delighted to officially welcome members of the Defence Forces to Croke Park today in recognition of the long relationship our organisations share and the Gaelic games competitions they organise for their members.
The cast of players they have invited here today to help with the unveiling of new Defence Forces GAA jerseys underlines the calibre of players involved and the high regard in which our games are held.
The presence of members of the Defence Forces on the biggest days in our calendar, through the involvement of the colour parties, reminds us of the long and enduring links with Cumann Lúthchleas Gael and I hope this is something that continues for many years to come."

Fianna Fáil presidential candidate Jim Gavin has said that he is in favour of the abolition of the Triple Lock, which requires Ireland to get UN approval if it wants to send Defence Forces personnel abroad as peacekeepers. https://t.co/BWIZBIhI28
On Friday, 22 AUG 25, Cathal Brugha Barracks commemorated the 103rd anniversary of the death of General Michael Collins, the first Commander-in-Chief of the Defence Forces, who was killed in an ambush at Béal na Bláth.
A military ceremony was held in his honour, with participation from units of the Barracks, members of the Collins family, veteran associations, An Garda Síochána, and the ANSAC Credit Union.
Lieutenant Colonel Alan Courtney, Officer Commanding 7 Infantry Battalion and Cathal Brugha Barracks, together with Mr Aengus Collins O’Malley, addressed the parade, reflecting on the enduring legacy General Collins holds for both military personnel and his family today.
We thank all who attended, supported, and commemorated his memory.
