@DanNeidle How about making it tax deductible (with an appropriate adjustment), so it effectively comes out of pre-tax income?
For those paying high marginal rates, prop taxes are eye-watering when considered in pre-tax income terms.
(Just a bit tired of getting rinsed from all dirs.)
@Jonathan_Hinder If you believe wealth taxes are appropriate, even if they reduce tax receipts and discourage inward investment, then be honest about that and make the moral case: rich people bad, must be punished.
@John_Stepek This is just his grift, isnโt it? Bang on about taxing the wealthy (even more), be very popular with the idiot class, rake in the media revenue due to that support.
@DeborahDuffin@RhonddaBryant We also have one of the highest minimum wages in the world. (According to data from the OECD and the Low Pay Commission, when adjusting for the cost of living, the UK has the fourth-highest adult minimum wage in the world.)
@DeborahDuffin@RhonddaBryant The state is already doing a very thorough job of trickling it down. We have one of the most progressive tax systems in the world.
@Miss_Snuffy All the maths and physics content I watch on YT would have been transformational when I was a teen.
(Like watching Bryan Greene and David Deutsch discuss quantum mechanics for an hour. Better than anything on TV.)
All to become inaccessible to enquiring minds.
