Some of the more “snr” or “experience” rowers in the Men’s 1x seem to have the mentally that their reputations precededs them. Only as good as your last race. Back to the drawing board for a few Olympic medalists......
Dutch men’s quad from #europeanchamps were imperious. Crew of the regatta. Broke their own best time from the heat and only a few seconds shy of the world best time (which was set on a conveyer belt). Surely a new worlds best time this season is on the cards. #bendandletgo
British mens 4. Would be the crew of the day if there wasn’t so much other good racing and unbelievable performances. Gibbs n Carnegie giving it some serious curry down the course.
GER mens 4, was dissapointing. I really thought they could hack it after the heat and with Max Planer and Felix Wimberger. But at least they had a go early and they’ll develop.
Mens 4- ITA- very dissapointing after last year, I don’t know whether they’ve gotten worse or they just haven’t progressed. ITA going to have some Olympic Qualifying dylemmas soon
Serbian false start down to not speaking English. Really? I’ve never seen a crew at the top level literally blow so badly that they drift over the line. Sinkovic brothers were outstanding though. 1st time I thought they looked actually comfortable in the pair. Nervous Aus??
Some of the other sculling in the mens quad and the mens double was just a joke. The amount of grab and bent arms there was. Have these guys never heard of the word hang or place. No wonder the veins are popping out of the arms on the podium.
Romanian Womens VIII- Interesting. I feel like this is the way every sport that involves cadence or rpm is going, cycling et.Getting the rate or cadence as high as possible and being on the very edge of connection. Even if it means rowing the last 500 meters at 1/2 slide rate 50
The Dutch Womens VIII were possibly one of the worst crews I’ve ever seen on a world stage. Blades everywhere, shallow, collapsed. Just bad- Bad race race strategy as well. Although that’s what you do when you’re that terrible.
Mens single- Zeidlers best performance ever. Under those circumstances in the last 700 he’d usually consolidate and not change his short, deep. circular stroke. He did make a change- rowed flatter and managed to pick the 2 1/2 tonnes he weighs up and get some rate.
