The Mets and left-hander Trey McGough are in agreement on a two-year minor league deal, per league source.
McGough, who recently came out of retirement, posted a 1.98 ERA over 81.2 IP in minors in 2024. He previously pitched in the Pirates, Orioles, and White Sox organizations.
Ryan Helsley is a Cherokee tribal citizen, too. He has been explicitly critical of the Atlanta Braves for tomahawk chopping. Now that he's on the Mets, he'll be playing the Braves way more. I'm bracing myself for how their fans respond.
