17% of the world's freshwater. 1,500 species. More than 10 million people depend on it every day for drinking water, food, and survival.
Behind closed doors, the governments of the DRC 🇨🇩 and Tanzania 🇹🇿 quietly signed a deal to drill for oil in it. Lake Tanganyika is not just Africa's oldest and deepest lake; it is one of the most extraordinary and irreplaceable ecosystems on the planet, home to 600 species found nowhere else on Earth. It is being put on the table for fossil fuel extraction, with EACOP serving as the pipeline that would make it financially viable and physically possible.
What makes this moment different from so many other environmental crises is that nothing has started yet. No licenses have been awarded, no wells have been drilled, and the lake is still completely intact. This project can still be stopped before a single drop of oil leaves the ground.
But that window will not stay open forever. Governments are already moving, and oil companies are already watching.
Swipe through to understand exactly what is at stake, then click the link in our bio or story to take action and tell the DRC and Tanzania that Lake Tanganyika is not an oil field.

Hello, I’m a Possum.
Probably, you don't know it, but I’m not here to cause any trouble. Actually, I’m here to help. Every night, I can eat lots of ticks, along with insects that spread disease.
I also keep snake numbers in check, even the venomous ones. My body is tough enough to survive Rattlesnake or Coral Snake bites, and yes, I even eat venomous snakes like they’re just another meal.
What’s more, my blood carries something special. Scientists have used it to develop treatments for snake bites that save lives. Without animals like me, there would be more pests, more Snakes, and fewer cures for people.
So if you see me, please don’t hurt me. Let me raise my babies. I’m just out here doing my part to make the world a little safer for everyone.

🌿 Why the Paper Industry Should Go Green with Hemp and Bamboo 🌿
Ever thought about what your paper is made of? While you're scribbling your next masterpiece or wrapping up that sandwich, consider this: the paper industry could be sipping on sustainability by switching to #Hemp and #Bamboo. Here's why:
- Rapid Growth: 🌱 Bamboo grows faster than a teenager on a sugar rush, and hemp isn't far behind. These plants don't need decades to mature like trees; they're ready in months! #FastGrowth
- Resource Efficiency: Both hemp and bamboo are like the minimalist monks of the plant world - they need less water, no pesticides, and enrich the soil they grow in. #SustainableAgriculture
- Carbon Saviors: Imagine plants that absorb CO2 like a vacuum cleaner. Hemp and bamboo do just that, helping to combat #ClimateChange one sheet of paper at a time. #CarbonSequestration
- Lower Deforestation: With these alternatives, we can tell those lumberjacks to take a long, well-deserved nap. Less need to cut down our dear trees means more forests for our planet. #SaveTheForests
- Biodiversity Boost: By planting more hemp and bamboo, we're not just making paper; we're creating habitats for wildlife. It's like a bed and breakfast for the animal kingdom. #Biodiversity
- Versatile Fibers: These aren't just for paper; think packaging, textiles, and even construction. The applications are as wide as the universe itself. #EcoInnovation
- Economic Benefits: Farmers could diversify their crops. Imagine a world where fields are not just for food but for paper too! #EconomicDiversity
So, next time you're about to throw away that cardboard box or tear off a sheet of paper, ponder this: could it have been made from something that's not just sustainable but super cool? Let's push for hemp and bamboo in our paper products.

Forests are essential for life on Earth, yet nearly 500 million hectares of forests have been lost since 1990.
The good news? Latest data shows that deforestation is slowing across every region.
1/5 of forests are now protected, but the world must keep the momentum going.
