ABC of Nigeria's Wild Animals – Letter Q

The Quailfinch Indigobird (Vidua nigeriae) is a small songbird native to Africa,and it is resident in four countries: Nigeria, Cameroon,The Gambia and South Sudan. It feeds primarily on seeds and grains, making it a granivorous species.

Because many indigobirds are very similar in appearance and can be difficult to identify in the field, one helpful clue for recognising the Quailfinch Indigobird is its close association with its host species, the African Quailfinch.
