Barely a month into office, the UDF Government stands caught in the shadow of a major corruption scandal. CM V.D. Satheesan's decision to slash liquor taxes from 251% to 120% is not just a policy change; it is a betrayal. Files frozen for three years were cleared in hours to favour liquor giants, reportedly bypassing even his own Excise Minister.
The UDF has made its priorities clear: corporate profits over the people of Keralam. The LDF will expose and fight this corporate sellout at every level.
The UDF came to power projecting itself as pro-Left and committed to Nehruvian socialism. This very first Budget, however, marks the complete abandonment of that pretence. At a time when the BJP was aggressively pushing privatisation and dismantling the developmental role of the state across India, Kerala under the LDF stood as a beacon of hope and resistance.
The last two governments led by us, the LDF, showed that welfare, social justice and public investment can go hand in hand with economic growth and modern development. Kerala emerged as India's leading state across key human development indicators while also achieving remarkable economic and infrastructure growth.
This Budget takes a sharp U-turn away from that model. It embraces corporate interests over public initiatives that Kerala has long championed. Everything from critical minerals and coastal resources to healthcare and public assets is being opened up for private profiteering, while plan outlays are slashed and the institutions that drove Kerala's progress are weakened.
What the BJP has long sought to impose on Kerala, the UDF is now attempting to deliver. This is not merely a Budget; it is a roadmap for surrendering Kerala's natural resources, public institutions and developmental priorities to corporate interests. It replaces a people-centred model with the very neoliberal order that treats society as a marketplace and the state as its facilitator. The Left will resist this assault and continue to defend and strengthen the Kerala model.
A 19-kg commercial LPG cylinder that cost ₹1,580 in January now costs over ₹3,100 - 3322. Food prices are rising. Services are getting costlier. Everyday expenses keep climbing.
Modi, you are making India poorer. India is suffering from your "achhe din."
The TMC now struggles to even find a candidate in Nandigram- the very place where Mamata Banerjee and Suvendu Adhikari together scripted Bengal’s violent political takeover and later turned against each other.
After the Falta repoll, the Left is now gearing up for Nandigram as well. The Left has survived years of witch hunting, violence and systematic political attacks by these very forces. Yet it continues to stand and fight for Bengal.
Many may mock us. That does not matter. We know power is still far away. But as Communists, we will fight till our last breath for this country and its people; reclaiming Bengal inch by inch.

The ED raid against former Kerala CM @pinarayivijayan is yet another blatant misuse of central agencies by the BJP to target regional opposition parties and undermine democracy.
ED’s immediate raid after Congress started complaining about ‘inaction’, raises questions on the BJP-Congress relationship.
Strongly condemn the Enforcement Directorate raids directed against former Kerala Chief Minister Com. @pinarayivijayan.
Such actions once again raise serious concerns over the growing pattern of central agencies being weaponised against Opposition leaders.
Incidentally, this also exposes the hollowness of the reckless allegations made by some Congress leaders who repeatedly questioned why Pinarayi Vijayan had “not yet been targeted by the BJP”!

Suspending the X account of “Cockroach Janata Party” exposes the BJP’s fear of growing dissent amoung the youth. A protest against unemployment, inequality & exploitation cannot be silenced through authoritarian actions. Suppressing democratic voices is against the spirit of the Constitution and democracy itself.

Press Statement
The Polit Bureau of the Communist Party of India (Marxist) has issued the following statement:
Withdraw Fuel Price Hike
The Polit Bureau of the CPI(M) strongly condemns the Union government’s decision to hike the prices of petrol, diesel and CNG. The hike of ₹3 per litre in petrol and diesel and ₹2 per kg in CNG will impose more burdens on the working people already reeling under inflation, unemployment, stagnant wages and deepening economic distress.
The justification offered by the oil marketing companies (OMCs) that they are facing “under-recoveries” due to rising global crude prices is unacceptable and misleading. The same oil companies reaped huge profits when global crude prices remained subdued or low over the past several years. The term ‘under-recovery’ itself is a misnomer. It does not signify real losses incurred by OMCs; rather, it refers to a hypothetical deficit between current revenues and the larger profits they would have earned if fuel prices had been allowed to increase further.
The Modi government also earned enormous revenue by refusing to pass on the benefits to the people. Today, when international prices fluctuate, the burden is sought to be immediately transferred onto the shoulders of ordinary people.
Apart from adversely impacting cost of transportation, they are bound to trigger a cascading affect across the economy including but not limited to escalating prices of essential commodities, agricultural inputs and basic services. CNG price hikes directly affect auto drivers, transport workers and millions dependent on affordable public and shared transport. It needs to be underlined that the Government had delayed this announcement for electoral interest.
The Polit Bureau of the CPI(M) demands the immediate rollback of the increase in petrol, diesel and CNG prices. It calls upon its units all over the country to organise protests demanding a withdrawal of this hike.
The Union Govt’s ₹3 hike in petrol and diesel prices is a cruel assault on people already struggling with inflation and rising living costs.
When international crude oil prices had fallen earlier, the Union Govt denied the people any relief and continued looting them through exorbitant fuel taxes. Now, after imposing a steep LPG price hike, it is once again making ordinary families pay for its failures in the name of oil company losses.
This anti-people decision will further raise transportation costs and the prices of essential commodities, hitting workers, farmers, and middle-class households the hardest.
The Union Govt must withdraw this unjustified price hike immediately.
There was a time when people used to take offence if someone had said “Modi” instead of “Modiji”
Now, people are mocking him left, right & centre.
Unreal yet fully deserved downfall.
LDF’s Infrastructure projects needs a thread of its own:
▪️Vizhinjam International Port
▪️Kochi Water Metro
▪️Edamon-Kochi power highway
▪️GAIL pipeline
▪️Kannur International Airport
▪️Kovalam–Bekal waterway
▪️Sabarimala Airport (upcoming)
Telangana CM Shri Revanth Reddy's recent disparaging remarks about Kerala are entirely baseless. It is ironic that someone who runs bulldozers over the homes of the poor in his own state is trying to preach to Kerala about social progress. He has simply become a mouthpiece for those trying to sabotage our sustainable and inclusive development model. (1/7)

The allegations of 'seat trading' for a Lok Sabha seat by the @INCIndia party in Haryana are extremely serious. Reports of middlemen demanding crores, pointing to the inner circle of the top leadership, raise a fundamental question that Congress must confront: have they reduced candidacy from a political right into a mere financial transaction?
For a party that constantly preaches against corruption, their complete silence and refusal to initiate an internal probe reveal a glaring political double standard.

Shri @RahulGandhi’s refusal to learn from repeated electoral setbacks is a strategic gift to communal forces. By sabotaging secular alliances in these states, the Congress has effectively functioned as the BJP's 'B-Team. The acquittal of opposition leaders like @ArvindKejriwal—whose arrest the Congress once shamelessly championed—is a stinging reprimand to their opportunistic politics. The Left remains steadfast in our resistance against the Sangh Parivar, while the Congress discreetly enables them.
The Leader of Opposition Shri. V. D. Satheesan must stop dodging questions with diversions. Secular Kerala deserves to know: what was the 'deal' behind your participation in the 2006 RSS Golwalkar birth centenary at North Paravur? Lighting the lamp before the RSS ideologue right before an election exposes a deep-seated compromise with communal forces. Was this, as alleged by leaders of Hindu Aikya Vedi, the cost of electoral support in 2001 and 2006? The mask of secularism has slipped; silence is no longer an option.
