Trump runs the circus. But the state is being redesigned offstage.
This essay traces Project 2025 back to Reagan’s Mandate for Leadership, showing how a governing script was written decades ago and now operates behind the spectacle of chaos.

Britain's forty-year decline cannot be solved with unaffordable hope or the politics of division. Lasting solutions need hard choices, toil and struggle

@BBCWorldatOne@BBCR4Feedback@BBCWorldatOne The World this Weekend - excellent review and analysis of the Russian invasion of Ukraine situation. First rate contributions, a serious discussion of the issues.
@AndyBurnhamGM Is it politics that isn't working or the economy? You can change the former, the latter is harder. But without changing the hard stuff you will create more disillusionment... that is the price of promises you can't deliver on. Warm words, cold reality
@SarahForRuncorn What's the difference? All MPs use constituents as a stepping stone - a none argument. A stepping stone to what have you done? I got bored with your voting record, enough to see not one vote won. Against everything! Dismal contribution. Burnham may offer something more positive.
@King0243_PJC That's great. As an ordinary fella, he'll be able to pull financing out of his arse, give the bond market a kicking in, and shout at the EU for a better trade deal... sorted!
If only it was that easy.
@UKLabour@AndyBurnhamGM Yeah, you'll be cheering when you realise that warm words don't deliver hot results. Unbelievable. Stability and quietly getting on with delivering was the one chance to win the next election - inflating expectations is a sure way to hand it to Reform
@TomK_Brit1993 It all comes down to money - good intentions, a good industrial strategy need funding. Even the financial crisis in local govt, said to be "out of control" & that without emergency funding "well-run councils could face going bust" is a challenge to Reeves red line!
@JeremyVineOn5 Deluded. The problems of the UK are way bigger than Burnham's warm words and tinkering around at the edges. The only thing he will increase is disillusionment with politics.
@often_harmless@BBCNewsnight Typical golden age in the past thinking... NHS close to collapse, NI still troubled, ASB critical, drug markets open and threatening, shootings... things are bad now, out of the EU, economically weaker. If only the bankers hadn't spoiled it in 2008 - we inherited austerity
On the morning he resigned, Wes Streeting was already a perfect illustration of everything wrong with British politics. This essay is about why that matters more than it looks @UKLabour@Keir_Starmer@AngelaRayner@CatherineWest1
The Fog of Sentiment https://t.co/5OUR6COwZp
@JeremyVineOn5 It is the only way for Labour to remain credible... if he goes, so does any chance of Labour winning people over... one third of the electorate turned out for a protest vote and Labour MPs shit themselves - it's all about their fear of losing "their" seat!!! Selfish
@Miatsf Resign - new leader - maybe new, not in the Manifesto policies. Government without mandate and calls for a fresh election will grow. When Starmer goes, so does integrity and mandate. You will be finished.
