Tard hier soir, j’ai ordonné à nos négociateurs de rentrer à Ottawa. Nous ne pouvons pas accepter ce que les États-Unis nous offrent, et nous refusons de leur accorder ce qu’ils nous demandent. 

Le Canada appliquera des droits de douane équivalents, au dollar près, à ceux imposés par les États-Unis, et ce, pour protéger les travailleurs, les agriculteurs, les familles et les entreprises du Canada. 

Dans les prochains jours, nous dévoilerons les détails de ces nouvelles mesures tarifaires, qui entreront en vigueur le mardi suivant la fête du Travail.
