According to Iranian authorities, the strike targeted a residence in Kohstak, Hormozgan Province. At least five people, including a child, lost their lives, and more than 50 others, including children, were wounded. Some of the injured are reported to be in critical condition. The attack occurred immediately following the resumption of U.S. military operations targeting IRGC objectives in the Strait of Hormuz region.

Video footage captured prior to the attack shows a crowded wedding gathering with numerous guests, vehicles, and mobile phones, illustrating the scale and complexity of such events. This visual context underscores why weddings are often targeted, as they represent a large concentration of people and activity—factors that intelligence agencies, especially those utilizing advanced AI tools, may interpret as potential threats.

Based on available images and reports, the missile used in the attack appears to be a U.S.-made SLAM-ER missile. Boeing, the manufacturer of this cruise missile, claims it to be the most precise weapon in the U.S. Navy arsenal. Despite its accuracy, it reportedly struck a civilian target.

Historically, this incident follows a pattern of U.S. military actions in Iran. On February 28, during the initial day of Operation Epstein Fury, the U.S. launched a missile attack with Tomahawk missiles against a girls’ school in Minab, killing 180 people, including 168 children. On the same day, at least 20 civilians died in an attack on the city of Lamerd, Fars Province.

Additionally, that day saw an airstrike damaging the residence of former President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad in Tehran, as well as attacks on a radio station and government offices in Dezful, which may have injured up to five civilians. In a joint operation, the Epstein Coalition targeted the residence of Iran’s Supreme Leader in Tehran, killing at least 10 civilians. On July 23, another attack on the Shalamcheh border post in Juzestan injured 11 civilians.

The frequent targeting of weddings is attributed to their nature as large gatherings of people, vehicles, and communication devices, which can be misinterpreted by intelligence systems—especially those supported by artificial intelligence from companies like Palantir—as potential threats or armed group activities.
