The Documentary was HEAVILY inspired by New York sonics and even sampled vocals from “Gettin’ Money” by Junior M.A.F.I.A. At that time, you needed some proximity to NYC to even be hot on a national level, hence The Game featuring G-Unit all throughout the documentary. Kendrick’s debut album featured Jay Rock and Dr. Dre, had multiple songs shouting out his city, and was literally a concept album about him growing up in Compton, California. This is what I’m talking about, how disgusting Hip-Hop YouTube has become.
